Hi everyone. I'm an analytically-trained psychiatrist with a background in family medical practice and also in Buddhism. At this point my practice is adult psychotherapy and I am no longer treating patients who need medication. Although I'm trained in analytic therapy, my approach varies according to individual needs. I see depressed or anxious patients , those struggling with losses, stress, life events, or in their relationships and other issues as well. I have a particular interest in working with adult victims of childhood sexual abuse and those with severe depression. I also offer individualized teaching to adult therapists.
I welcome and care for patients from all walks of life. I ensure a collaborative experience with a commitment toward individualized, personalized, comprehensive care for patients and families. Bienvenido… Espero ayudarles.

I promote a holistic approach to care. In providing care, I attempt to raise awareness of the individual's medical condition related to mental health disorders. Patients are educated on their disorder and the biological changes that occur. Each treatment plan is individualized to the patient. Interventions are based on best-evidenced base practice. People can recover from mental health disorders, leading a fulfilling and productive life despite their disability. For certain people, it denotes a reduction in the severity of their symptoms. I believe that treatment adds to the spirit of a person, instead of diminishing their spirit.

I am currently an outpatient provider with experience in treating a number of psychiatric conditions, including substance abuse and behavioral addictions. In terms of an ideal patient, at our practice we strive to treat the patient as a whole and believe in the biologic, psychologic, social, and spiritual approach. As such, an idea patient would be willing to discuss each aspect. While I do prescribe medications, I try to minimize these through use of the other approaches. Of note, as I do outpatient office-based care, I do not provide 24/7 care.
Your attempts to live a life closer to the essence of who you are, to find the heart and soul of yourself is a quest I too am on. Realizing that in our attempts to ward off pain our familiar self became a walled-in fortress, we seek a way out and a way forward to who we really are. My own search for reconnection to the spirit of my life has taken the form of being a psychotherapist to those trapped in that fortress and, as a result, feeling more and more unreal.

Are you struggling with anxiety (Panic, Social Anxiety, OCD, GAD / Worry, Phobia) issues? Is distress from uncertainty, fatigue, poor sleep, worries, irritability, & demoralization wearing you down? If these issues are interferring with your life, then please consider investing in yourself & getting an evaluation. Indeed, therapy may be your best choice. If it works for you, it will be among the best investments you ever make. And yet, too many people unnecessarily suffer due to wishful thinking, delays, minimization, shame, & partial improvements, while not getting completely well. I suggest getting help and a check up now.

I treat both a vast range of psychiatric conditions and help those who wish to better understand themselves and their relationships. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, whole body health, coping with medical illness, and addiction medicine. I will formulate a customized treatment plan, which may include psychotherapy, medications, and behavioral techniques, to best care for your condition and meet your needs.
