Ever heard people mentioning that they are in an “existential crisis”? An existential crisis can be triggered by life events such as relationship losses, death of a loved one, quarter- or mid-life crises, life transitions or simply feeling stuck in life. Some of the symptoms may include feeling alone in the world and experiencing unsettling emotions like uncertainty, despair and anguish etc. If left unchecked, this can lead us to experience overwhelming feelings like depression and anxiety or start doubting our purpose in the world.

We all have the fundamental need to feel loved and connected. Whether you’re seeking therapy for yourself, your child, or your family. I’m here to support you in making the changes you want for a better life. My work focuses on helping when you feel unmotivated in life, sad, numb, lonely, or trapped, are self-harming, experience anxiety, panic attacks, eating issues, academic concerns, low self-esteem, and work and family conflicts. I lived in several countries and learned about their culture; this allows me to better connect with your culture and your identity group (i.e., LGBT+).

To most people, the word trauma may be terrifying. In reality, it simply refers to a negative overwhelming experience or experiences. Overwhelming? Yes, any kind of overpowering experiences that cause extreme distress to the body, emotions, thoughts and mental states. These drive our physical and mental systems into survival modes of fight, flight or freeze in order to manage situations that are threatening or jeopardize survival. When left unaddressed, these modes may become the new operating system. Overtime, a traumatized person may get so used to operating in this mode, and it becomes an auto-pilot or default mode for them.

Everyone is looking for happiness and trying to find it in their external surroundings. Happiness, Peace and Calm are energies we experience within us. We redesign our goals accordingly and are closer to achieving these when we are in touch with ourselves and when we know who we are, what are our gifts and how to utilize these to reengineer our Journey of Life.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind (Quote Fritz Perls). Gestalt therapy has the flexibility in its approach to help hold space for the whites/blacks and greys of life. Together, therapist and client can journey to help you deepen your own perspective of yourself and better understand how you function as an organism/environment field - a biological, thinking, feeling being - and do both inner, and relational work to support you with the challenges that present themselves in your life at this given moment.

It is a challenge being human in an era where performance, achievements & success are prioritized & lauded. Oftentimes, our professional being overshadow our personal being & this itself is tiresome & confusing.

Mental health is the most key aspect of human living and psychotherapy is a very useful tool to develop personal strengths, improve communication, deepen self-awareness and maintain mental wellness, throughout one’s life. Through consistent and regular intervention, I strongly believe that one can find peace, confidence, and the resilience that we need to deal with our challenges.

I believe that each individual has their own unique way of perceiving the world and experiencing the world around them. In addition to symptom reduction, I also emphasise the importance of attending to core issues and the context with which one's distress develops.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counselling
How can I find a therapist in Singapore?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
