What is most personal is also most universal. The Roman playwright Terence famously uttered this, “if I am human, then nothing human is alien to me”. I consider myself a wounded healer, helping individuals discover that when crying is easier, laughing is also easier. There may be seasons in our lives when our bodies are broken, our thoughts confused, and our emotions troubled, yet all is not lost. Just as the same sun that melts butter hardens clay, wounds though painful, can be a springboard to growth, and even the saddest circumstances can become a source of wisdom and strength for the journey that still lies ahead- if you let it.

My clients often feel stuck in patterns such as addiction, compulsive behaviours, anxiety, OCD, depression, or unresolved trauma. They may be functioning outwardly but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or burdened by shame and emotional pain. They need a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship and both practical tools and deeper healing work. Their goal is not only symptom relief, but lasting change—greater emotional freedom, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self. They seek therapy to understand themselves better, heal at the root, and live with more authenticity and balance.

ADHD, sex addictions and shame have an impact on your quality of life. Despite overachieving at work, you are unable to appreciate your success. You are anticipating the next screw-up. You are waiting for others to criticise you. You wonder why you can't feel inner joy like others. Dealing with your self-doubt and low self-esteem is tiring. To cope, you put on a 'I'm fine' mask. Hoping that others will believe in you and begin to trust you Even when they do, you will feel hollow on the inside because they do not know the true you. If they don't, you feel even worse about yourself. This is a lose-lose situation in either case.

At times, life is hard, and we sometimes find ourselves in problem situations that we struggle to cope with. Our family and friends, who normally provide us with most of our emotional support, are not always able to help. Indeed, though well-meaning, their advice can actually be counter-productive and increase our personal difficulties. This is where Counselling Therapy can be especially useful. We provide support to clients suffering from a range of issues that most of us face at some time, including stress & anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship troubles, academic/work issues, trauma & poor personal boundaries.

Clients reach out in relation to issues ranging from from mood/anxiety disorders, substance/behavioural/sexual addictions and compulsions, trauma, relationship issues, and existantial issues in life.
My practice is grounded in the Gestalt perspective is; it sees thoughts, feelings, and actions as integral parts making up a person, whose essence as a whole is greater than the sum of those parts. Denial, suppression, or rejection of them ultimately leads to discordance. I work with clients to understand those parts and learn to shape their preferred selves. The therapeutic journey is about redefining your “way” or 道 in life.

A therapist with a difference. The past 21 years in this field have taught me that besides being professional, well trained, a therapist has to be genuinely humane, humble, approachable, and compassionate with a sense of humour, whilst supporting, walking with clients on their journey to wellness. I don’t give advice, because I believe each client is the expert of their own lives. No individual person is a problem but a problem is a problem and my job is to help clients recover remember and reclaim their agency. I was not there at the start nor can change it but I can be there to empower you with choices where and how you finish

I believe therapy works best when it’s respectful, collaborative, & real. The relationship we build matters. I aim to build a space where you are supported with care & honesty. Struggles are not seen as personal failures here, but as circumstances shaped by the relationships, systems, & expectations you’ve had to navigate in your life. Together, we’ll work together to examine the challenges - anxiety/depression / relationship difficulties / stress & burnout / difficult life transitions - weighing you down & identify tools that not only overcome them, but allow you to have a fuller, more meaningful life.

I believe that we live in precarious times placing enormous demands on individual lives. More than ever, we are asked to demonstrate agility, adaptability and to innovate without any safety about the future; without the comfort of readily available narratives to draw meaning or a sense of orientation. My practice is a space where individuals can explore untapped resources and search for their own unique voice. It is a space for deep empathy and reflection; a space for self-discovery.

Structured psychotherapy for burnout, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. Something has shifted: the energy is not coming back, sleep is off, focus is harder, and rest alone does not reset it. You want structured answers, a clear clinical picture of what is maintaining the problem, and real follow-through from someone who understands what it costs to keep performing when your system is running on empty.

Male Counsellors
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
