I believe that everyone deserves to have the knowledge and skills to improve their mental health, quality of life, and their relationships. It can take a great deal of courage to see a counsellor, so my aim is to offer you a confidential and safe space where you can feel listened to, without judgment, to help you explore your thoughts and feelings. You may be feeling sad, low, or anxious because of a particular issue, or it could be that you don't know why you are feeling as you do.

I offer face to face and online counselling in the Taunton area. Together we can look at who you are and the impact of what is going on for you, helping you to develop your self-awareness and to think about the changes you would like to make. Counselling can allow you to develop better understanding of yourself and your relationships. Unshared feelings can feel like a burden and can lead to us feeling isolated and alone. My aim is to help you express these feelings and allow you to re-evaluate your life and to move towards a fresh sense of self.

My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.

Hi, I'm Jo and thank you for taking the time to stop by my profile. So you've decided to take what feels like a scary yet very important step towards making a difference in your life and are looking for the right help with this - yes? Finding a safe, trustworthy and comfortable place is so important when it comes to therapy and I strive to offer this, either in my therapy room, via video link or over the phone, so that you can get help where ever you are. I'm trained in a variety of Counselling Theories so we can make the therapy fit you, rather than to try to fit you in to a 'therapy box' of one theory fits all.

Hi, I'm Katie and I appreciate you stopping by my profile. I bring warmth, positivity and my sense of humour to the therapeutic relationships that I form with clients. It takes courage to decide to enter therapy and together we will find what helps you the most. The areas that I offer the most support with are anxiety, low self esteem and depression. I offer a free initial discussion because it gives you the opportunity to see if you think we are a good fit. Part of the therapeutic process is the relationship that we build and therefore it is important that you feel safe, heard and accepted.

A space where you feel able to say how it is and you feel understood without being judged. I will be genuine and together we can explore your experiences in our sessions. As a Clinical Psychologist, I work with individuals with a range of difficulties who want to improve their lives. Clients I see struggle with attachment trauma, anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms and self-criticism. They often feel drained, have little energy, live with pain, gastrointestinal complaints, and PTSD symptoms. For many, relationships are challenging, and trusting others to access help is a struggle. Through our work together, we develop greater awareness of how they relate to others in intimate relationships, and the impact this has on their body and mind, which helps them to relate to themselves differently too.

I am an accredited psychotherapist & counsellor offering support to adults, couples & young people 16+. How we relate to ourselves and to others impacts our mood, our confidence, our outlook and self-esteem. I work to shed light on how our relationships shape us, and how we can get stuck repeating patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us. Symptoms such as anxiety, OCD and depression thrive when we get into a vicious cycle of relating ineffectively. Counselling gives us a safe space to reflect and explore what has happened to us. It can free us up to think and feel differently about our lives, our choices, our way forward.

Using a range of therapeutic techniques, my practice is informed by the needs of the individual client. My primary approach is TA which can help with communication and behaviour by understanding the Self, and thus improving interpersonal relationships and self-esteem.

How can I find a therapist in TA1?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
