I am a calm, approachable, empathic, and grounded counsellor with 8 years' experience. I have found that no matter who you are, what you have been through or are currently going through in life being genuinely heard and understood by someone else is a deeply healing process which often brings relief, calmness, and clarity. Wrestling with intense thoughts and feelings on your own can be utterly exhausting and can often leave you feeling stuck or going round in circles but having a safe and confidential space to share with a trusted professional can lead to surprising breakthroughs and a deeper understanding of yourself & your issues.

During our lives many of us can experience loneliness, despair, abandonment and many things that can affect our happiness. I provide a safe space where you can heal and grow without fear of judgment. Whether you need to go back to childhood and revisit painful past experiences, or work in the present with anxiety or grief, I can help. Starting to heal and gain acceptance with grief and loss and how to manage with anxiety and depression can feel overwhelming and isolating but having the tools to help and understanding of why can make each day become easier, more bearable and can be very empowering.

People choose to come to therapy for many different reasons. You may have experienced a loss, be feeling stuck and wondering how to change your life; or perhaps be going through a life crisis, or having difficulties in your relationships. I offer particular insight for those who have experienced bereavement through the death of a child or pregnancy loss, or received a life changing diagnosis for themselves or their child. Simply being with a compassionate, professionally trained therapist who listens without judgement can be a powerful, healing and transformative experience.

I am currently meeting via Skype/Zoom or telephone. If you want to commence and are worried about CV-19 please do contact and we can make arrangements. We can all experience difficult and painful times and life some sometimes feel hard to manage, often leaving us feeling alone and afraid, feeling that we need some support and understanding from a professional. My practice is to work alongside people in order to help them gain some insight and understanding about their difficulties as well as feel supported and heard. Depression, anxiety, loss and separation are some of the more difficult issues we come up against in life.

Although we might not like it much, things are constantly changing and we are challenged to deal with this all the time. Sometimes we cope, yet at other times we get stuck in a hopeless loop. We may seem to deal with a difficulty at the time but things can stay inside, unprocessed, causing problems without us even realising. Our mood and behaviour can feel out of kilter and sometimes we're really not sure why. At other times we know why we're sad, anxious or depressed. We know it would be good to talk about things but it can understandably be hard contemplating opening up about our innermost feelings. At times, we just need to talk.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counsellors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
