Hey! My name is Hayley, I am a person-centred counsellor with a passion for helping others understand and accept life difficulties. By offering my clients a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore their feelings and emotions, I believe, that by being truly listened too, together we can achieve personal growth and a better understanding of the challenges we face. I have worked with men, women and young people experiencing mental health challenges, listening to their needs to build therapeutic relationships with my clients. I can offer sessions face to face in Southchurch and Southend as well as walk and talk therapy.

A warm welcome and thank you for visiting my profile. Are you struggling with personal issues and would like someone to talk to? Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions to enable you to find solutions that suit you as a unique individual. When talking about personal matters, it’s important to feel respected and listened to and counselling can offer a safe space, that friends and family often can’t. I aim to provide a calm and safe environment where you can feel comfortable opening up and sharing often painful and difficult emotions.

Ever feel like you have a lot going on in your mind? Isolated? Alone, with no one to talk to about it all? Or maybe you just don’t feel comfortable sharing your thoughts with your family? Perhaps, you are getting to a stage where you’re feeling as if you’re in a deep dark hole unable to get out, with an uncertainty of the future. Life can be challenging and get on top of us, whether it’s: other people, situations, work or even ourselves. We can get into a negative cycle and sometimes are unable to admit that we need help. If any of this applies to you, then maybe it's time to try therapy?

Juggling work, family and time for yourself can be overwhelming, and many parents struggle with anxiety and guilt. Or maybe you're a People Pleaser? The idea of speaking up for yourself makes you feel ill, but you feel the need to live YOUR life - not someone else's idea of life.

Your well being is important to me and I will treat you with the utmost of respect. I will help you to achieve your goals. Based in Southend on Sea, Leigh on Sea and Rochford.

I also specialise working with women survivors and victims of domestic abuse by empowering and supporting women to take control over their lives, make choices and decisions independently.
I am an integrative therapist who values the inner strength it takes one to be vulnerable whilst sharing their lived experience. My focus is to try and walk in one's world. Therefore I value every person I speak to with respect for who they are and how they have got to where they are. I refrain from judging you and provide a source of complete acceptance and support. You will lead the conversation, and I will not attempt to steer you in any direction; instead, I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment for you to explore and talk about any difficulties you may be experiencing.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the stresses in life? Feel unable to make decisions? Do you condemn yourself for making the 'wrong' decision? We can be good at condemning ourselves and be our worst critic. Discovering what patterns are happening for us over and over again, and preparing yourself for these, knowing what you can and can't do, can feel empowering. Being able to express yourself knowing that you can be heard without fear, embarrassment or shame but with acceptance of you as a person can be life changing. I can help you look at making changes and find bespoke ways to support and establish a way forward for you.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
