I offer tailored therapy that aligns with your values, whether it's mindfulness & emotional regulation through dialectical behavioural therapy or exploring trauma & the mind-body connection with somatic therapy.
As a young adult, navigating life with anxiety, depression, or trauma can be disorienting, especially if cultural influences amplify pressure to create stability in your life. This can make you withdraw & feel all the more disconnected from yourself & others. I understand how this impacts your daily life, academics, career, & relationships, which is why as an empathetic therapist, I create a safe space for you to explore your multifaceted identities, develop coping strategies, & build resilience. Together let’s address your unique challenges, nurture self-empowerment, and map a path forward in which you thrive with confidence & joy!

I integrate approaches like DBT, ACT, and somatic therapy, with a holistic focus.
Is anxiety getting in the way of living the life you want? Maybe you are trying to work through complex trauma and aren't sure where to start. I work with people looking to heal relationships with themselves, ultimately leading to better relationships with others. Many of my clients self identify as people pleasers or perfectionists, who have a tough time slowing down and putting themselves first. We might have a hard time finding the balance between shutting down our emotions and having them take over. I have a special interest in helping people navigate complicated family dynamics and heal from childhood trauma.

I practice holistically with an emphasis on somatic based approaches that integrate the mind and body.
Hi, I’m Jen! Are you a female with high-functioning anxiety or a trauma history? Outwardly, you seem okay, but beneath the surface, you may struggle with overwhelm, feeling on edge, overthinking, worrying, self-criticism, a nagging feeling of not being good enough, perfectionism, self-doubt, low self-confidence, not feeling able to enjoy the moment, and/or imposter syndrome? If you can relate to any of these concerns, I'm here to listen and help. I work with clients to help improve nervous system dysregulation caused by stress, trauma, or attachment wounds.

I have a unique background of over 30 years experience working with young children, adolescents and their families. I offer a variety of client centred psychotherapeutic services specializing in individual and family therapy. My relaxed play-based approach helps children explore difficult emotions and situations. I use a strength-based approach helping adolescents building their self confidence, self esteem and coping strategies. When parents feel capable and they are better able to understand their child's individuality the potential risks for mental health concerns decrease for every family member.

Vulnerability is the first step to healing. When we are able to be vulnerable with ourselves, we are able to open up,. I want your messy self to show up and feel safe in your own space alongside me. I am a student of the Satir Family System's model and help the whole family grow alongside one another. I love the challenge of helping the client heal and being part of the process. My goal is to help clients associate self-responsibility with success. The Satir approach can help clients work through trauma and develop a greater sense of harmony and inner peace. I am a firm believer in therapy being client-driven and action orientated.

Many of my clients would describe themselves as living in a world that was not built for them. You might be struggling with big emotions or feel things deeply. You may be looking for a therapist who appreciates that your anxiety might show up in therapy. I spend the time building a connection with each client on their own terms and I'm willing to step into your world. If you relate to any of this, we might be a good fit. Many of my clients have trialed other therapists and are looking for someone with lived experience of neurodivergence. I have a casual, conversational style and show up as my authentic self.

In my role as a psychotherapist, my commitment to supporting individuals on their journey towards healing and self-discovery is not just a professional obligation but a deeply personal calling. I've witnessed the profound impact that therapy can have on a person's life and I hold a strong belief in the power of human connection to facilitate healing. My journey in therapy first began as a teenager, struggling with anxiety and depression. When I was at my lowest, and most hopeless; my therapist was standing in my corner rooting for me. Therapy changed the course of my life and I am eternally grateful.

We often minimize our own experiences, needs or desires and "push through" because we think we should. These learned strategies may have been integral to getting through certain stages of life, but can now be holding you back from connection, confidence, and satisfaction. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disengaged with your own voice, my aim is to help you foster understanding, self-compassion and co-construct unique, manageable strategies that free you up to respond to situations, and yourself, with greater confidence, clarity and authenticity; opening possibilities for a more fulfilling connection to yourself and others.

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
