I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Wellness Counseling Inc. with 14 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I am English-Spanish bilingual. Dr. Kahn holds a doctoral degree in clinical behavioral health from Arizona State University. He also holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in psychology. He has received specialized training in individual, couples, and family systems therapy. He has also received additional training in health psychology, crisis intervention and trauma-based counseling.

I work well with patients suffering from symptoms that they feel no one has the capability to treat. Many of my patients come to me after they have been to other therapists and have not found relief. My patients come to me for a psychotherapeutic experience different from the usual. The patients who are a good fit for my services are sensitive, intuitive, creative, and have had difficulty reconciling their personality with their personal experiences and the world around them. I am especially skilled at working with acute mental health issues. I have worked at Harborview Medical Center and Fairfax Behavioral Health.

When too much is too much and nothing seems to be working, therapy is an excellent place to start. We all respond to stress differently. Some common ways are lethargy, persistent thoughts, impulsive actions, body aches, or insomnia. You may apply words like depression, anxiety, or trauma to those symptoms which can feel big and scary. Clients primarily request services with me to work on communication between partners and other members of their family systems. I am currently accepting new clients and will work with you in person or via telehealth at the Summit Health Management office in Gig Harbor, WA. In addition, I also utilize games such as Dungeons and Dragons with families, kids and teens, to roleplay therapeutic scenarios out in a safe environment (I also run a weekly social skills teen group on Thursdays).

Therapy is about learning how to tell our stories. It is deepening our courage to look ourselves in the face and tell the truth of what we find. It is taking in the bountiful love in the world though it sometimes seems impossible to find. It is learning to savor the taste of a good meal and laughter with others. It is knowing the name of our sadness whether or not we can find our tears. It is being. Just as we are with hope for more to come.
