First off I want to say I'm glad that you're here. It can be difficult looking into therapy but the fact that you're now reading this says two different things about you. The first thing is that you are coming to therapy because you feel like you need some extra help in order to move forward from a challenge that is currently happening or has happened. The second, (and most important), you have a strong sense of courage and grit to face the unknown, and to make a better life for yourself. There's a brave part of you that's urging you to continue your life's journey, and is trying to give direction to what will bring you peace.

I am considered an integrative therapist though I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), LifeSpan Integration, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), which means that I do not currently prefer a specific counseling theory.
Please know that I respond fastest to texts to 360-205-1870 (preferred) or emails. Counseling should be compassionate, accessible, and affordable so that you feel safe navigating the process as an opportunity that can help make the changes. We all need to reach out for support when days become overwhelming and we are prevented from living the quality of life that we want. Your journey is a collaborative approach so we will work to find what we feel is the best fit. I plan on supporting you down your path of self-authorship where you'll work to trust yourself, reflect on experiences, learn coping skills, and lead your life.

Welcome! My name is Hannah, and I believe that every individual deserves to be heard, affirmed, and supported as they work to build up skills to address the issues they are facing daily in their lives. Thank you for taking a minute to read my bio to see if I might be a good fit to come alongside you on your journey. I use a person-centered, trauma informed, multimodal approach to ensure each client is supported while identifying and working towards their goals. Along with this, I also believe it is important to understand the interconnectivity of cultural, historical, and social impacts and experiences within one’s life.

Relief, increased contentment, hopefulness, self acceptance, healing and growth, are attainable.
Human beings are unique, complex, and possess the capacity for change. Although adversity and struggle can feel overwhelming, can make us feel lost or stuck, our essential selves are not lost and are not wholly defined by depression or angst or trauma or grief. Compassionate, respectful support provides a space to explore, discover, reclaim, change, heal, and grow.

These include a psychodynamic Depth oriented approach, Buddhist psychotherapy, existential and somatic theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and a deep alignment with principles of ecopsychology and wilderness therapy.
For me, “psychotherapy has to do with…people playing together.” My therapeutic approach is grounded in practicality, metaphor, and paradox. Whether you want to examine your relationship to archetypes and epic tales, investigate the mundane and extraordinary beauty in doing the dishes, or delve into your style of relating to another being: bring all of it - it is welcome and deserving of your attention. Fundamentally, I am fascinated by people - our stories, our journeys and our capacities for grace and awe.

I use evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, Mindfulness-based treatments, traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and exposure-based treatments, such as EXRP and Prolonged Exposure.
It takes so much courage to search for a therapist and reach out for help. Just by looking at this website, you are already taking steps towards something better. You can stop automatically reacting to thoughts, feelings, and sensations in ways that seem to only make things worse, like shutting down or exploding. Together, we can make space for tough feelings and discover how to live with meaning, purpose, and intentional action. I specialize in treating mood disorders, chronic pain, health issues and SSRDs, stress management (including professional and/or parenting stress), and prolonged grief disorder.

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems as my primary modalities.
Current virtual openings: Thursdays at 1pm and 2pm. My goal is to help you be with yourself in a more helpful, accepting and flexible way. Being a human is hard, and being with our experience (thoughts, feelings, body sensations, memories) can be challenging. My goal is to get curious with you, what is working and what is not? And explore how you can be with yourself in a way that is workable for your life. When I see there is struggle, I will interject with ideas for different ways to relate to your body, memories, internal images and thoughts and different parts of yourself.

Your decision to enter therapy is an act of great strength and courage as well as a sign of health and evidence of your commitment to growth and self-care. Life is both beautiful and can be inherently challenging. No matter how you are feeling or where you are at in life, there is an abundance of hope. We can actively make changes that enhance our mood, reduce other symptoms and pursuit meaningful goals. Know that your worth is immeasurable, and your purpose is of great value. Your voice, your story, your pain, your hopes and dreams matter, and I would be honored to support and empower you on your growth path.

I believe therapy can create a space for each of us to build trust and radical self-acceptance for ourselves, learn to honor our needs, and help us connect with the community that honors us, too.
My goal as a counselor is to help clients navigate body image concerns, gender identity, and inner critic work with self-compassion and attention to structural injustices clients face. I love supporting clients through identity exploration of all kinds, and if you're looking to know yourself a little more deeply, come to terms with big life changes, repair your relationship with your body, or learn to work through the painful, dark periods of life with some support and reflection, let's talk!

Changes and transitions are hard for all of us. Sometimes they can be great things like a new job, relationship or family member and other times they are hard changes like a death or the loss of something important to us. Other times they are the result of a trauma that may be recent or may have happened a while ago. I have several years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, families and couples adapt creatively to these transitions in order to help them become the person they were created to be.

I believe that each of us has the capacity to become knowledgeable about what feels workable in day-to-day living and to uncover what personal values we would like to strive for in our life. I am drawn to working with folks who want to discover more about themselves (both strengths and areas of growth), their identity, their relationships, their role in the world, and how to lead a fulfilling, meaningful life. I value the opportunity to think together with clients about how therapy could be most helpful for them. I am well-suited to work with people who are looking for meaningful and measurable change in their life.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
