I am passionate about being present with individuals as they experience disappointment, pain, despair, and joy in life and relationships. Sometimes, we need help navigating. I believe together we will discover the power and insight already within you. We undergo a process of examining your inner life, dreams, fantasies, and imagination to discover the inspiration that will allow you to live an authentic life. My approach is individually-focused and relationship-driven. Whatever challenges you are facing; that with a bit of goodwill and openness, much can be uncovered in a relatively short period of time.

I work with families, couples, individuals, domestic violence (victims and perpetrators), substance abuse or other addictions, work related problems (EAP), depression, anxiety, and parenting.
I use an interdisciplinary approach, which means I use different styles of counseling to meet the different needs and personalities of clients. I always allow their feedback so they remain comfortable. I try and meet their perceptual needs, emotional needs, cognitive needs, situational needs, and respect their individual personalities. I have worked with all ages, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds (including the Middle and Far East), and social economic backgrounds.

My practice includes working with couples/relationships, parent-child, families, adolescents (13+), and individuals. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities. In a world brimming with endless distractions and disconnection, it’s completely natural to feel a bit overwhelmed and purposeless. At times like these, seeking therapy can be a wonderful opportunity to take a breather and carve out a nurturing space to reconnect with your own needs, your relationships, and your family.

Living in today's society is not easy. Children and families are experiencing long last effects from the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred during state wide lockdowns and the inability to process those experiences. Intergenerational trauma has many individuals unable to break the cycle. I am a firm believer that we have the power to break cycles and change our lives. I also believe in breaking down societal systems as they play a major part in what families experience. I will be a helpful guide while we unpack and break down barriers within ourselves while acknowledging things that are out of your control. Join me in the journey

Are you tired of therapists starting their bios with rhetorical sentences? (I’ve always wanted to start my bio that way). I am energized by working with people who feel tired of the ‘usual’ therapy process, and I love supporting people in their process toward increasing their life and relationship satisfaction by learning (and relearning) effective skills. Often these tools are obscured by coping skills that have been successfully utilized for short-term survival and therefore turned into habits. I love working with families (including couples), and individuals who are willing to show up.

Relationships are key to the individual human experience. I believe that it is no coincidence that when we find ourselves struggling in relationships, it has a profound effect on our individual emotional well being, just as experiencing a challenging life event can lead to difficulties in our close relationships. My practice specializes in therapy for individuals, couples, and families who are seeking to strengthen their current relationships following recent conflict, a difficult life event, individual or family trauma, or any other disruptive experiences. I am also currently accepting therapist trainees (post graduate) in need of clinical supervision.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
