Life tends to throw us curve balls. With all of our energy spent juggling obligations, responsibilities, and managing daily stresses, it's easy to wake up one day and realize that you just feel "stuck." Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, but it's the first step towards regaining control of your life. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, experiencing relationship difficulties, or just want a different perspective on whatever is holding you back, I'm here to help you navigate and overcome these challenges. Every person's situation is unique. I do not treat the therapeutic process as "one-size-fits all."

I believe that healing takes place differently for every human being. While there are commonalities across the experience of healing, there is no other person on this earth that must walk in your shoes for a lifetime. Understanding your strengths and unlearning those beliefs that have kept you feeling stuck is where I aim to set a foundation for where your journey of self-discovery goes next. My goal is to seek out and heal the "root" cause of fears and anxiety, and additionally, to establish your own personal sense of safety after traumatic experiences. I consider it an honor and privilege to hold space for you.

I believe that our present day emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are linked to experiences from our past, and those events not only impact our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, but they also impact how we view ourselves and our relationships today. It’s my goal to help you grow in your self-esteem and self-acceptance, and to create the language and thought process to believe in yourself, advocate for yourself, and to be optimistic towards yourself. My ideal client is someone who is motivated and ready to challenge their current way of thinking about themselves.

Eirene simply means peace and reconciliation within yourself and with other people. How is your relationship with yourself? What about with other people? When those relationships are unbalanced it can look like repeating the same dysfunctional patterns no matter how hard you try. It can feel like you are stuck, unmotivated, frustrated and don't have the energy to make the changes you desire or not being sure of what changes you need to make to live a fuller, more complete life. You may also feel overwhelmed, anxiety filled, doubt in yourself and your abilities, anger/irritation, and setting impossible goals for yourself.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
