Often our life-path is interrupted with events that are uncontrollable and unpreventable. In additions, many are devastating and can send us spiraling. I believe in the resiliency of the human mind, body, and spirit and desire to help people rediscover the joy of their life's journey

Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I believe it is important to identify your counseling goals and issues and to tailor therapy to your needs. Then as we progress in therapy we can add new goals as they come up. I always want to be sure you are getting what you need in your therapy experience. It is very important to me that my clients feel that the therapy environment is safe and productive and that you feel that you are a part of the therapy process.

Many times we find ourselves in emotional crisis that we can't get through alone. All people go through hard times in life. Some people get through it alone or with support from family or friends, others pretend to get through it and live with it constantly affecting their lives, and others are not able to get through it or pretend to. There is no right or wrong way to overcome hard times, trauma, anger, bereavement, grief, depression, addiction, or other obstacles in life. If you find yourself in a hard spot and in need of someone to listen and help guide you through it, with no judgement, I would like to be that person for you.

As Soren Kierkegaard says, “Life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced.” I have years of training in forensic psychology and counseling techniques dealing with adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and marriage and family counseling. My specialization includes group therapy in areas of intimacy and addiction. I am specialized in dealing with moderate and more serious mental health issues especially anxiety, impulsivity, and depression.

This is why it's part of our practice name. Usually, when a person decides they’re ready for therapy, or even when a parent, family member or friend suggests it - it’s because they're at a crossing point. I am a Survivor of domestic violence. My name is Wanda R.W. McKinley, and I went through over 22 consecutive years of abuse. When we go through traumatic experiences in our lives, we sometimes find it hard to express our feelings and thoughts to others. Those trapped emotions eventually find their way to the surface and causes us to react in negative ways. Being a Survivor I understand the importance of being able to express yourself even if it is not verbally. I want to help individuals transition from abusive situations to being self-sufficient in society. The vision is to empower men and women so they can and will survive.

I am a Certified Trauma Resolution Therapist and work in the areas of Depression, Anxiety and Bi-polar issues. Areas of Trauma include trauma related to abuse, traumatic loss, accidents, sudden death, and divorce etc. I work well with all age groups, cultures and ethnicities. I provide services to the active military as well as veterans. During the flooding in Houston I spent 2 weeks providing assistance.I believe strongly in service.
