When we do this, we can begin to feel rigid, anxious, depressed and empty. I am passionate about helping adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem and relationship issues. My approach is to help you connect to your body and emotions in a way that helps you know yourself more deeply, feel more confident in your decisions. Using these methods, we can help, pull you out of depression & anxiety spirals.

OCFS specializes in children from 3 to 13 yo. Mobile-Office-Telehealth services available. OCFS is also a proud provider of Medicaid (Superior Health, Dells Children).

Often difficult life experiences leave a lasting mark on our ideas of ourselves. In the therapy room, I invite my clients to explore how parts of themselves have adapted to survive. Together we will befriend these parts and become familiar with your inner world, to better understand how trauma has impacted your mind, body, and view of the world. I am a gender queer, pansexual, latinx, therapist who specializes in working with women, queer, gender diverse, and polyamorous folks. I see clients age 15 and up, and love supporting late adolescence and young adulthood. My niche is childhood trauma, and emotional and sexual abuse.

I use a direct and compassionate person-centered approach, utilizing attachment theory, art therapy, and treatment of trauma with EMDR, IFS, and Somatic Experiencing.
First and foremost, it takes so much strength to reach out for help and I am glad you are here. It may have taken you a while to get here - maybe your undiagnosed ADHD put it off, or a people-pleasing part of you has put others before yourself, or a perfectionist part that felt bad that you couldn't "fix it" on your own. I believe seeking therapy and inner healing can hold joy and humor as deeply as it can confront and hold pain. My hope is to create a non-judgmental, secure space for you to safely embrace every part of you. Through it all, I will be there alongside you to remind you that you don’t have to carry it all on your own.

Giving ourselves the time and space to be vulnerable, to reflect on our current selves and want to improve takes courage, perseverance, and self-reflection. If you're here, you have taken the first step in working towards giving yourself that time and space, and I invite you to take a moment to breathe, knowing you are exactly where you need to be. While working with me, I will provide you with a safe, collaborative, and judgment free space to help you reach your goals. Together, we will explore past or present experiences at your pace, while helping you gain insight into your world and feel empowered to make the changes you desire.

I see therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist, each with different areas of expertise. I believe the goal of therapy is not only to solve "problems" but to help clients grow and find balance and wholeness. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) , a method of therapy that numerous research studies have shown to be effective in the treatment of trauma. It has been shown to be as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy and often provides relief in fewer sessions.

Coping with trauma can be a lonely isolating experience and the therapeutic relationship is often a significant step in moving forward.
I AM NOT CURRENTLY ABLE TO ACCEPT NEW CLIENTS. Reaching out to a therapist for help can be an intimidating process and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for adults, children, and teenagers, that makes talking about, and dealing with, deeply personal things less overwhelming. Many of the clients who work with me are struggling to have the kind of life they wish to have. Sometimes this is because of old behavior patterns that aren't working for them anymore, or symptoms or challenges they face because of past experiences that have made coping with current circumstances difficult.

My ideal client is one who is ready to begin the journey towards a better functioning family, and/or a happier life. That person wishes to move through their past experiences and begin the healing process. Healing may require a level of discomfort, but my ideal client has likely been uncomfortable before. That person is ready to feel safe and find the strength and comfort to provide connection with this clinician needed for goals like improved intimacy, decreased sadness or motivation, work-life balance, couples, family of origin issues, and trauma.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
