I have experience working with individuals working through many issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, etc.
Some often say we should stay active to maintain our physical health. I believe therapy is a way of getting active in maintaining positive mental health. We all endure many struggles in our lives and seeking help is the first step to overcome those burdens. I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all approach and believe in providing a warm, comfortable, and nonjudgmental space while developing a strong rapport with each client. In order to make the healing process most rewarding, I believe that displaying empathy and offering strategies are key along with understanding each client’s background, history, thoughts, and values.

I have learned that most people are significantly impacted by trauma and that it is their response to the trauma that directs their path and makes the most significant influence on their lives.
I see therapy as an interactive journey toward achieving set goals. I believe in providing support for individuals, children, couples, and families through their journeys as a co-pilot. We a systems approach, to work together to recognize patterns in thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships that have developed through your unique experiences. Providing support with issues of grief, depression, anxiety, physical and emotional abuse, divorce, parenting, adjustment, spiritual, and relationship concerns is a priority.

I'm drawn to those who've faced life's unfair blows, carrying the weight of trauma. It's not about fixing; they're not broken. Their needs center around shedding the burden of feeling defective due to past experiences. Together, we navigate their history, aiming not to erase but to transform. The goal is a fresh perspective, a chance to unshackle from the past, and embrace a new lease on life—a journey filled with compassion, understanding, and authentic growth.

I have worked with a variety of clients coping with mental illness, adjustment disorders, trauma and substance abuse.
I have extensive experience with mood disorders, trauma and addictions and work with all ages. I am trained in EMDR and use that technique with both children and adults if appropriate. My clients often state when they first spoke to me they felt immediately at ease and did not feel judged. I am able to assist my clients in seeing patterns in their life story and work to identify and change core beliefs such as "I'm not good enough", "I'm defective" or "I cannot trust others."

You can learn a lot using all of these! I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools and Rebound and Recovery, two research-based curricula for working with children; and I have experience with many therapeutic approaches.
I work with children, teens, and families to support them as a family and strengthen their connections with each other. I see children and teens for individual counseling, group counseling, and also provide family counseling. Growing up is hard and so is parenting! We all have times when we could use extra support. I specialize in blended families and co-parenting support for all types of families.

Do you struggle with thoughts of self-harm, of not being good enough, or feeling like you are empty inside? Do you struggle with feelings of extreme anger and do you sometimes "erupt"? Hey, life can be tough. Some events are out of our control and sometimes we tend to get in our own way. Often negative events in our childhood shape our adult responses leading to anxiety, depression, avoidance, and panic. Whatever the experience you’re here because you’re ready to overcome it. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating.

Problems do not occur in a vacuum. Individual problems often have symptoms that affect the entire family system. I work with children, adolescents, couples, and families experiencing whatever problems of the moment. During our work together, we will explore the impact of the issue and join together to generate solutions that not only benefit the people in the room, but may also positively influence future generations.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
