I am a counselor that values the depth of human relationships. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions that can be summarized as somatic and attachment focused, relational, and mindful. All of these interventions are built off of the idea of present moment awareness. This means that I use each moment as potential for awareness into your inner experience. I spend time assisting each client in expanding their window of tolerance for discomfort as well as developing tools and techniques for structural changes. I am experienced working with general mental health concerns as well as what people identify as trauma and PTSD.

Appalachian Christian Counseling is a non-denominational Christian outreach to individuals and families in crisis founded by Thaddeus and Joyce Noto in the Tri-Cities, Tennessee. Hunter has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient mental health, adolescent residential, community mental health, as well as providing services to youth in the juvenile justice system. He makes it a priority to work with his client’s to bring out their innate strengths in order to improve their lives. David Sapp is Licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Senior Psychological Examiner (LSPE). David relocated to Tennessee after growing up in New York. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Milligan University and his Masters of Education in Counseling from East Tennessee State University. He has worked for 35 years as a Professional Counselor in East Tennessee in a variety of settings including outpatient counseling as well as schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and jails. In addition, David has been an adjunct instructor at Milligan University.

I have 35 years experience in counseling adults, youth and children, single or married on a variety of issues. Sixteen years ago I started Mustard Seed Ministries to provide clinically sound and spiritually based therapeutic counseling for all in need, particularly those marginalized by poverty. My office provides a safe, comfortable and confidential place for people to understand the thinking and unrealistic expectations which may have led them into their painful situation. Ultimately, it is a place to find solutions, hope and healing.

The clients I work with range in age from 14 and up. They have many different stories but some things in common. They all want someone who will listen and understand them. Together we can get through anything.

With 20 years of experience in helping people to better their lives, I enjoy helping couples find love and happiness that feels like it has been lost or damaged by issues. I currently live in East Tennessee with my wife of 25 years and our three beautiful adult daughters and 3 grandsons. I am a graduate of Ole Miss and the University of Alabama. I have spent the last 10 years as a therapist in multiple settings and prior to that worked in the social work/child welfare field. I enjoy working with college students, individuals and couples. I see life as a journey and see therapy as a break to rest, recharge and refuel so that the journey may continue despite the bumps along the way.

Coming to therapy always takes a lot of courage! Talking with someone about the things affecting us in our lives can be difficult. But, when the right steps are taken and we can see other ways to approach our problems, life can change. My goal as a therapist is to help people discover new ways to approach the difficult times in life and find alternative solutions. Ultimately, most people are seeking ways to have better relationships and feel a sense of contentment in life. Through individual, couples or family therapy I help people find these new ways of living.

I enjoy working with individuals to build better lives and relationships. I support individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, men's issues, anger issues, and stress management. For individuals who feel stuck and hopeless, I help provide support, understanding, perspective, and direction. There are so many difficulties in life that are out of our control, and I help individuals develop the resilience to endure the hardships of life.
