While pain and stress are inevitable, it is my goal to help discover ways of coping and mitigating the pain and struggle to help people find and live out their purpose happily and healthily. My close family and friends would say that I have been counseling my whole life; beginning with being elected the peer helper of my 4th grade class. I continued to follow that calling throughout my path and became a licensed social worker/therapist.

I offer long term, in depth, therapy for individuals/couples that are looking for lasting relief of symptoms and reconciling the issue(s) once and for all. I look at both conscious and unconscious processes as information about where the problems may originate. Awareness, Insight and Choice are key to this process.

I am a Licensed Counselor based in Sioux Falls, SD. I am a therapist who approaches therapy from a relational, collaborative, and strength-based perspective. I am best at helping people find their purpose, build themselves up from rock bottom, and to help people move from being stuck surviving into someone that is thriving in life's journey. Life circumstances and mental wellness varies when someone walks into my office, but I have witnessed people completely transform. One evidence based and effective approach I use is EMDR in both individual and group settings to move past trauma when feeling stuck in the healing process. I care deeply about supporting people through grief/loss, life transitions, mental health challenges, and family conflict. I have had the unique privilege of supporting many individuals in some of their most challenging days. What I've observed in these situations, is the immeasurable benefit of a having a genuine person to lean on.

Now accepting new clients. We are unhappy in our lives today because we have wounds from the past that have been left unhealed. These wounds generate from our basic needs not being met in childhood, abuse, loss of any kind (death of a loved one/friend, job, house, security, relationship, etc.), an unexpected accident, or any other traumas life may throw at you. These unhealed wounds are “jabbing” at you today through maladaptive and numbing behaviors, physical reactions, and emotional reactions.

I have always viewed my work as a therapist as an honor and privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples and families to address some of their most sensitive and intimate struggles they've experienced in life. I work with clients ranging in age from high school into late adulthood. I have extensive experience working with marital and relationship problems, infidelity, divorce issues, those who might struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family of origin issues and trauma of abuse. I also have a special heart for those who have endured medical illness. Working as a therapist is my passion.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples who are facing painful impasses in their lives. Kathryn has worked with youth since 2014 in a variety of programs including residential settings, education, early childhood, and counseling centers. Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Concordia College Moorhead and a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Affairs from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She obtained her Associate of Social Work license in 2018 and is currently working towards her Licensed Professional Counselor hours in South Dakota.

I feel fortunate to have the experiences that I have had in working with a diverse group of individuals with various stories. I am able to build rapport quickly, making the client feel comfortable, and can assist in guiding the client in meeting their goals. I bring a unique experience as I look at the whole person to explore what all is, or has impacted them. We don't focus on disease management but strive to focus on overall wellness-mind, body, and soul.
