In addition to treating the relationships themselves, I help individuals process the emotional turmoil - anxiety, depression, grief, anger, sadness - that can accompany relational distress.
Is a relationship causing you pain? As a relationship expert, I help both couples and individuals get what they truly need, either individually or through the relationship itself. I will help you (each) get in touch with what you're deeply wanting, and be able to express those desires in a healthy, positive way that others can hear. From this place of strength, fundamental transformation is possible, either to let go of a harmful relationship or to create a relationship that is vibrant and a source of sustaining joy.

Welcome to the Center for Relational Transformation. We are a group of relationship experts who can help you with any relationship issue or any psychological issue that stems from relational difficulties (depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, PTSD, neglect, abuse). Based on what we now know from the latest research in neuroscience, deep healing on a fundamental level is possible. Instead of just treating symptoms, we can cue up and facilitate "corrective emotional experiences" that can profoundly heal past hurt and trauma for both individuals and couples. You don't need to suffer any longer.

Healthy relationships are an essential ingredient to living your best life possible. No matter your relationship status, it’s important to have support as you navigate relational stressors within different life stages. I respect the vulnerability in reaching out for help. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck and disconnected from your partner. Or having a hard time understanding your relationship patterns. Maybe it’s difficult to express or manage your emotions. Learning who you are in relationships is a lifelong process! My therapeutic approach is direct, emotion-focused, and client-centered so we can walk through that process together.

My clinical experience includes treatment for anxiety, relational issues, depression, stress, loss, anger, sexuality, and career related issues.
I believe that individuals possess the knowledge and strength needed to create the changes they want in their lives. Clarity about new choices in our lives begins with accepting the feelings we are experiencing today. I focus on facilitating a supportive and collaborative relationship with my client to promote their insight about the feelings and events in their life. Clients are empowered to control the direction of their lives with new choices based out of the insights gained in treatment. I provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples motivated to the improvement of their self, their relationships, or their careers.

Treatment is about promoting change, and this change must come from within. I ask a great deal from clients when I ask them to change; this journey requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively and deeply. While my therapeutic approach is greatly influenced by psychoanalysis and relational therapy, I also employ aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, specifically, the principle of radical genuineness to build rapport with my clients. I aim to provide my clients the space to explore underlying feelings, thought processes and behaviors, and the support needed to engage with the therapy process.

As a relational therapist, I focus on supporting and witnessing clients in finding healing, connection, conflict resolution, and repair to ultimately build a life and relationships that honor their values and imagination. Therapy is an opportunity for liberation from dominant social narratives that don’t work for us as individuals or in our relationships, and I recognize the intergenerational and ongoing trauma of struggling against those dominant narratives. All relationships can benefit from this lens – whether they're romantic, platonic, brand new, long-term, with others, or with parts of yourself.

If you are feeling stuck, I can be a guide in helping you find movement in your life. I will work with you to better understand your body and mind's ways of knowing. We may use creative practices like artmaking and body awareness along with discussion. Based on your goals, we will find what works best for you. I use a relational approach with a dash of humor in my practice, making space for both the hard things and the good stuff in life. Therapy should help you to feel that range more deeply, to feel you have options, and to feel capable of knowing what you need.

My integrative approach blends EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and relational therapy to help you release self-sabotaging beliefs, heal your nervous system, and reclaim your purpose and/or identities.
I am a liberation-focused Latina EMDR therapist and I help to empower individuals on their journey toward inner healing, reclaiming their authentic power and a deeper sense of connection. While my practice centers BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identities, I am affirming of neurodiversity and warmly welcome all seeking healing and self-discovery. If you feel burdened by expectations, feel unseen, disconnected, or lost, I’m here to listen and hold space for you. Together, we will venture beneath the surface of your experiences to explore the "why" behind your feelings and behaviors and uproot the limiting beliefs to bring you more inner peace.

I utilize a relational lens to examine how individuals carry their earliest experiences with them all their lives.
As we grow and develop as humans, we often find ourselves confronted by issues from the past – issues we may have thought long-resolved. These issues can manifest in our relationship dynamics, our perceptions about ourselves, and our means of coping with our environment. My role is to join you in confronting these things so that you can integrate and learn the lessons these past experiences are meant to teach you. In our work together, you are the expert. You decide what your experiences mean and how they impact the person you are.

My clinical practice focuses on individual therapy and psychological and psycho-educational testing with children, adolescents, and adults. My areas of expertise include trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and life transitions. I use an insight-oriented, relational approach with an emphasis on collaboration, connection, and empowerment. The therapeutic relationship facilitates growth by identifying and exploring both past and present patterns that keep people feeling stuck. I see therapy as a collaborative effort that allows people observe and more deeply understand themselves, their relationship patterns, and their characteristic ways of thinking and feeling.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
