I believe in working together to create a safe, judgement free space in the therapeutic setting that is both relational and clinical.
Are you wanting to feel different, think differently or have different relationships? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps you feel better faster. You might be wanting to heal from trauma, or improve your performance, strengthen your connection to others, or lead in healthier ways. I am EMDR Certified and an EMDR Consultant. To support EMDR therapy I also use attachment theory, ego state and parts work and include HeartMath, a science-based biofeedback in treatment. As we work together, the work integrates helping calm the nervous system to provide more integration and improve overall health and wellness.

My approach to therapy is grounded in a relational perspective, with a particular focus on attachment, trauma, and grief.
Hello and Welcome! I understand that taking this step requires courage, but please know I am here to support you, and we can get through it together. As your therapist, I am committed to co-creating secure and settled spaces and journeying alongside you so that you, as the client, can experience healing, freedom, and hope as we explore the different parts of your story. Sitting with you as you discover what is most genuine and authentic about yourself is an honor and privilege. Working together, we will look inward toward the core self and explore ways of cultivating a more profound sense of self-compassion, empathy, and growth.

My collaborative approach is relational, helping individuals meet goals, and build self-compassion and acceptance.
If you’ve been feeling unworthy, lonely, anxious, or stressed, reaching out for support can be a positive first step towards healing. It’s important to know you do not have to go through this alone. Talking with someone can allow you to see how your thought patterns and actions impact the way you feel. My specialties include working with anxiety, stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, grief and loss, and life transitions. I also support individuals who are highly sensitive and struggling caregivers who often put their own mental health aside to care for others.

I do virtual therapy with clients here in Colorado. Most of my clients are seeking assistance in mitigating the stressors in their lives. Family relationships; grief/loss; difficulties with parenting or accepting parenting; substance use; crises of faith...all these issues are present in my practice. Most are looking for direction; someone to help sort through the problem and achieve an adaptive resolution. They are distressed that they are at odds with family; concerned over the loss of control with substances; and some are wondering about their purpose in the world.

Are you hoping to feel better but not sure where to start? Therapy can help! Having the ability to seek support during a difficult time is a sign of strength. It is okay to admit that doing it alone is no longer working. Therapy is tool that can be used to help you work through difficulty and feel more empowered and balanced. I work most frequently with those dealing with anxiety, depression, transition, burnout, and grief. Areas of interest include trauma, fertility, parenthood, work related stress, and life transitions.

My focus is in supporting you in your process as you seek solutions, resolve present/past issues, and reach your personal goals. I work with families, couples, and individuals to help create change, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and develop a strong sense of self-worth. I believe everyone is capable of growth and transformation. My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and encouraging. I use humor to provide new ways of relating, encourage movement away from defensive reactions, and add a light touch to intense moments. I utilize a blend of Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) and experiential techniques when working with clients. AAI can enhance our work on self-awareness, communication, relationships, coping skills, and teamwork.

Sometimes life can leave the best of us feeling helpless, unlovable, and lonely. While Western culture promotes emotional independence as a strength, attachment science is discovering the opposite: humans are wired to experience vulnerability in connection with one another. From this evidence-based approach, my first priority is to build a genuine connection with you that fosters openness, trust, and compassion - to provide a safe haven where you can begin to develop curiosity and awareness around patterns that no longer serve you while helping you uncover a more authentic story of you and your place in the world.

I have worked in a variety of settings during my 20 years in the field of mental health. These include medical and psychiatric hospitals, substance abuse treatment facilities, college counseling centers and, for the past twelve years, my private practice. This breadth of experience is a great asset and allows me to feel comfortable working with almost any client issues, but I still find that a grounded common sense is my best tool as a therapist. I also feel that I am able to express my perceptions in a manner that clients are able to hear, understand and take into consideration.

I tend to approach therapy through the exploration of current and past relationships in your life. Together, we look for relationship patterns that you would like to change because they are troublesome to you. I work with individuals, couples and families to help sort out problems and identify emotions with the goal of feeling better. Our work may include new ways to think about problems and/or new coping strategies to more effectively deal with them.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
