I work primarily with adults and couples to become more aware of their emotional and cognitive barriers to living happier more creative lives.
My goal as a therapist is to help you find more fulfillment in life through better relationships with yourself and others. You will come to know yourself and appreciate your strengths in ways that will increase your confidence and ability to access what you need. I conduct therapy as a conversation about life and the many challenges it presents. I offer my thoughts as a way to facilitate conversation and solutions to the specific challenges you face. You will experience the ability to understand yourself and others which will also help you feel more present and open. Past experiences that trouble you can also safely be understood.

Through working with these groups, I've learned to utilize a number of modalities such as CBT, MI, DBT, ABA, etc.
Let me tell you a secret, therapy is not a one size fits all type of thing! I wish it were as it would make life so much easier, but the fact is every person is different and requires sessions catered to their own unique backgrounds, environments, and goals. As a psychotherapist, my aim is to work with you on getting to wherever you want to be in life, so I invite you to reach out if you are interested in taking a bumpy ride through the road of self-discovery.

CBT is best suited for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mood-related issues.
I specialize in treating teenagers, young adults, and adults. These transition periods can be difficult and often times misunderstood. The associated changes with any transition bring instability as the person passes through important periods of development. During this period, the person is typically required to make adjustments; however these adjustments are sometimes affected with negative and irrational thoughts. I believe that my specialized training and years of experience make me highly qualified to help with conflict that may come with this transition as they may indirectly affect school, career choice, and relationship.

I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and solution-focused therapies to help clients examine life transitions, relationship friction, and the many other challenges they might encounter in life.
It takes courage to tell your story, be vulnerable, and practice introspection. But as the old saying goes, “a problem shared is a problem halved.” Whether you’re experiencing challenges in your relationships, family, career, health, or questioning your life path, we’ll work together to find a solution. I’m a Counselor and Life Coach who supports people during life transitions—including marriage, divorce, career changes, motherhood, and grief and loss. Whatever you’re going through, I’ll be a compassionate listener who reframes the situation and so you can see it in a different, more positive, light.

My clinical orientation and training is Integrative, as it combines Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) perspectives with Eastern one. I probe for problematic thinking styles and attitudes that are often part of personality disorders and self-handicapping strategies. In many cases, this plays a central role in many disorders.

I am a psychoanalyst with training in cognitive behavioral therapy.
Understanding your emotions and being able to express them with a trained professional can help you overcome the challenges in your life. It is common to avoid thoughts and feelings that are distressing, and for this reason many people hesitate calling a therapist until long after they initially contemplate it. I focus on the reasons behind these avoidances in order to make life more manageable, and I do so in a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental space. Discussing and understanding your past experiences and relationships are important parts of gaining insight and making necessary changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
