I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience and specialized training in optimizing mental wellness, developing healthy relationships, and cultivating confidence.  Based firmly in neuroscience, evidence-based practice, and psychodynamic therapy techniques, I guide my patients every step of the way in developing new attitudes towards life's most complex matters. The Gay St office is in the center of West Chester, near WCU and directly behind/adjacent to the Justice Center. St Peter’s office is situated along French Creek in historic St Peter's Village.

Moods or anxiety can feel overwhelming, and cause problems in personal relationships, work, or social life. Anger or anxiety can bubble up or creep in without a clear reason. At times emotional changes can feel like a roller coaster. For many, there are things they've never told anyone, but that linger in their mind. Are you seeking treatment, but finding it very difficult? The decision to seek treatment is often very difficult, yet a necessary choice. For the last 28 years I have been providing a non-judgmental arena to work on a variety of issues to include but not limited to addiction, anger, gambling, co-occurring disorders, behavioral concerns, depression and anxiety.

Inner Resource Counseling is a group practice serving Bethlehem & the Lehigh Valley area. Our focus is on acting as therapeutic supports in assisting people in improving their lives by gaining personal insights about themselves and making healthier choices in problematic times, allowing for positive change to occur in life. If you are feeling stuck, frustrated or overwhelmed as a result of current life stressors or have been living with long-standing issues, clinicians can work with you to develop skills and raise your level of functioning and satisfaction with the use of multiple techniques, based on your individual needs.

The primary focus of this practice will be in filling the mental health needs for children, teens, and adults. In person or virtual sessions are available. Couples counseling is not being offered at this time. (My office is in historic home in Honesdale and I am located on the second floor. Unfortunately I do not have an elevator. Please keep this in mind if you have any mobility issues, but I want to be transparent about this limitation. I apologize for any inconvenience.)

I am a board certified, licensed professional counselor as well as a certified anger management specialist and a certified secondary school counselor. I have worked in the mental health profession for over 10 years. As a therapist I offer individual, couples, and family therapy in the areas of anxiety and mood issues, relationship and conflict resolution, stress and anger management, behavioral disorders, and more. My experience in a school setting offers a unique perspective in working with adolescents and young adults. I have a particular interest working with teenage and adult populations as well as the elderly and the distinctive challenges they face.

I have been working with children and families for over 10 years. My belief is an individual needs to make the decision for the changes in their life. I hope to assist those in need to build the appropriate skills necessary to achieve their goals. Dr. Witmer works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in the therapy setting. Dr. Witmer specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, AD/HD, parenting techniques, behavioral concerns, developmental concerns, anger management, mood disorders, and more. She utilizes integrative, cognitive behavioral, and play therapy approaches when working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Dr. Witmer provides comprehensive psychological, psychoeducational, and diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. She can also provide other types of assessment as well.

I believe in focusing on the strengths an individual has and using them as a platform to improve and address their struggles. I offer a warm, inviting, and relaxed therapeutic environment and strongly believe that a positive client/counselor relationship is important to successful treatment. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults with a variety of diagnoses and struggles including depression, anxiety, low self esteem, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, parenting skills, grief and loss, Bipolar Disorder, life changes, anger management, PTSD, LGBTQAI+ concerns, and more.

I have been working with children, adolescents and adults for many years in a variety of settings including child welfare, school settings and private practice. I specialize in working with children of all ages from toddlers to young adulthood. I have experience and I am trained in anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, Autism, ADHD and anger.

In his practice, Dr. Acosta uses different approaches with the purpose of promoting a therapeutic experience focused on favoring the awareness of the people he serves about their own needs and potentials.
