I practice soul work, with deep listening, archetypal guidance and cross-cultural and humanistic wisdom to unfold your unique gifts and destiny.
I practice soul work, helping restore and heal our connection to our deepest Self. I especially work with military and veterans, spiritual seekers, writers and artists in all genres, mid-life crises, men's issues, trauma and abuse survivors. I welcome clients seeking positive and comprehensive growth and change, a discovery or restoration of their gifts and creativity, and a deep healing relationship "out of the box." I do not practice conventional therapy for merely repairing our issues and adjusting to unhappy conditions. Rather, I nurture the unique soul and spirit in each person toward achieving meaning and creativity.

I work from a humanistic, relational, and systemic perspective.
As we grow into ourselves, and life changes, we can begin to notice gaps in our story... We can begin to reflect on how we are shaped by our families, our childhood, our own temperament and our experiences in adulthood. Are we living in line with our goals, beliefs, and values? Do we have a strong sense of identity? Do we have quality relationships in our lives? Starting a family is one of life's greatest periods of reflection, adaptation and role change. It is not one cohesive story that is the same for everyone. There are times we need help navigating and adapting to this part of our life story.

As a Nepali-Indian American, I possess a deep understanding of how our cultural backgrounds shape our identities. I'm here to help you navigate feelings of confusion, dissatisfaction, guilt, and shame that may arise from cultural dissonance. I understand that delving into the hidden or seemingly challenging aspects of ourselves can be intimidating. However, as former Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis wisely said, "sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants." In our work together, I provide a safe space to illuminate and heal these parts of you that require attention.

Do you feel like your emotions control you? Life overwhelming? Maybe you're grieving or struggling with feelings of fear and loss. You can discover tools that will help you understand these emotions, as well as your strengths and you don't have to struggle with it on your own. Working with you, I will incorporate skills that I have gathered from my past experiences in public health, end-of-life care, gender-affirming care, and a Health at Every Size philosophy. If you have ever felt marginalized because of who you are, know that everyone deserves to find peace and affirmation and we can work together to achieve that.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
