Although I help my clients work through a broad range of issues, I specialize in DBT, personality disorders and performing interventions. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech, and identify targets and teach skills to reduce stress and intense emotions to maintain balance and build a life worth living, and use a DBT-informed approach to treatment.

Hello, I am Divya Gupta-Torres. As a clinician, I have worked in a variety of settings including, inpatient psychiatric units as well as a wide range of outpatient mental health services that provided individual, family, couples, and group counseling using a wide range of modalities. In addition, I have an extensive amount of experience working with individuals and families facing the unique challenges of substance abuse. Some of the settings in which I have addressed these challenges are inpatient substance abuse treatment crisis intervention services Intensive Outpatient Programs and Methadone clinics.

Dr. Gail Canavan is an advanced practice nurse clinician with more than 30 years of experience in private practice treating adolescents and adults with mental health concerns including depression, panic and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), drug and alcohol addiction, out of control sexual behavior, post-traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.), eating disorders, and dementia. In addition to an integrative general psychotherapy and medication management practice, Dr. Canavan specializes in sex therapy and relationship dynamics, working with individuals and couples of all ages and sexual orientations.

With 35 years' of experience in the mental health field as a counselor and psychotherapist, I have maintained a well-established practice in Bergen County for 30 years. My practice provides individual, group and family counseling and psychotherapy in addition to workshops and lectures. I have worked in a variety of community and private agencies which has provided me experience with diverse populations and services. As a licensed psychologist for 17 years, I'm devoted to the treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and families. I've worked in various medical and educational settings and am licensed in NJ, NY and FL. I treat children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of psychological and behavioral disorders, including: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, school refusal, divorce, adolescent issues, & behavior disorders. I am skilled in psychological testing of children, adolescents, and their families and conduct psychoeducational evaluations for school placement. I am available for in-person and virtual sessions.

Michael is a Trilingual (English, Portuguese, and Spanish) counselor who graduated from Montclair State University with a Masters in Community Mental Health Counseling. Michael comes to Family Psychiatry and Therapy after years of experience treating adults, children, and adolescents in hospital, home, and community settings.
