I have been engaged in the field of social work and counseling for 40+ years, and have enjoyed success working with diverse populations with a wide variety of issues--including relationship distress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, neurocognitive disorders, adoption/foster care, personality disorders, self-esteem, family conflict, aging, parenting problems, and spirituality. I hold Montana licenses in both Clinical Professional Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. I work from a systemic perspective, with an eye toward discovering and utilizing both internal and external sources of strength and support.

My therapy is client centered, offering a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic environment for work to take place. I generally start by getting to know you well. As you develop a sense of safety and trust and feel deeply understood by me, you will probably gain insights and relief in better understanding yourself. As we go, clients increase their awareness in themselves and their relationships with others. They become calmer, wiser, more confident, and empowered.

I am currently an LMFTA. My background includes 6+ years in the mental health field, and over 13 years' experience working with children and families utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy in schools, homes, and clinics. These modalities not only help the children with various developmental disabilities and autism, it also helps parents and siblings use everyday methods to bring more ease to their day. I encourage and support focusing on what really matters, our relationships.

My work with individuals and their families is based on a life time of personal and family experience learning to live with serious mental illness. I have spent much of my adult life involved in research through the National Institute of Mental Health, advocating for families and individuals through the National Alliance on Mental Illness and working with the most vulnerable populations through the Mental Health Center PACT program. I believe that everyone is capable of meaningful recovery through the pursuit of education, healing, and personal growth.

I offer telemental health sessions via computer, iPad type devices, smart phone, and telephone. Change is possible in a positive therapeutic relationship where feelings, thoughts, and behaviors can be examined, understood and challenged in a safe and respectful way. Children can often show a need for extra support in their development. They may be struggling to express emotions, connect with family or peers, or regulate and soothe themselves through change, traumatic events, or life transitions. I help children connect to resources in themselves and offer a space to work through emotions they don't have words to describe. I also work with families to support the child-adult relationship at home.

Additionally, I am a Fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association.

I have been working with children and families for the past 11 years utilizing a relational attachment model. I have experience working with family separation, foster care/adoption, trauma, life transitions, depression, anxiety, anger, self-esteem issues, school issues along a verity of emotional/behavioral concerns. I have worked with children from age 5-18 years. I offer a safe nonjudgmental environment that allows children and families to be able to address and explore their needs with support and guidance.
