I believe that therapy works best when it helps us get in touch with things we're not aware of and don't want to be aware of. We are all motivated to avoid painful thoughts, feelings, and memories. But along with that lack of awareness comes confusion, isolation, and the inability to act to improve our lives. In our work, we will strive together to figure out what you are unable to think about and feel, and then work through what we discover in a safe and supportive environment. This work can be very difficult, but its difficulty is also a measure of how important and life-changing it can be.
I have particular interest in working with LGBTQ+ identified individuals and couples, especially in the areas of sexual inhibition and dysfunction. I also works with patients for whom spirituality is an important issue, especially as it intersects with sexuality issues. I have found that psychoanalysis is a good lens through which to explore these issues.
