Many of us find ourselves stuck. Maybe you overthink conversations long after they have ended, replaying moments, questioning what you said, or worrying you have done something wrong. Or maybe you and your partner keep having the same argument, with one escalating and the other shutting down, leaving you both feeling unheard, frustrated, and disconnected. You may feel anxious, depressed, or unsure of your path in life, trapped in patterns you cannot seem to break. You may be looking for relief from emotional overwhelm, more clarity, and stronger, more connected relationships.

If you have embarked on the arduous journey of finding a therapist who sees you beyond your symptoms, it may be that you are a complex person holding multiple, sometimes conflicting identities while feeling the systemic pressure to be stripped of that complexity. Perhaps you are neurodivergent, seeking connection in a culture that values individuality over collective belonging. You might be hypervisible in one aspect of your identity while another remains largely unseen. If this resonates, you may have recognized these dynamics intellectually, yet find it hard to fully experience, integrate, or make sense of them.

Welcome! Therapy is a place where we are allowed to extend grace to ourselves. My hope is that through our work together, we can build an environment where you feel ready to connect with all parts of yourself. My clients are thoughtful, kind, and have deep compassion for others. However, they find it hard to show up for themselves in the same way. Most clients come to therapy aware that something feels off and are starting to recognize that they may not be able to function using the same strategies they have for years. They are noticing signs of anxiety, depression, relational distress, and are having trouble connecting.

Do you feel like you have it together on the outside but internally you are exhausted, anxious, or stuck in the same patterns no matter how hard you try to change them? Maybe it shows up in your relationships — the overthinking, the reassurance-seeking, the push and pull that never seems to resolve. Maybe it shows up at work — the burnout, the work stress, the pressure, the feeling that no matter how much you accomplish it is never quite enough. Or maybe you just know something feels off, even if you cannot quite name it yet. You are not alone — and you do not have to keep navigating this by yourself.

In an age of 30-second advice clips, emotional life has become an unseen casualty of quick fix culture. Self help can offer much needed and important momentary clarity, however it rarely reaches more persistent layers where lasting change begins. Some patterns and self-defeating behaviors keep returning... Why do our relationships turn out the same way over and over? How do we keep "winding up" in similar situations that don't suit us?
In your work with me, we will address the symptoms and the causes so you can access new ideas and outcomes in your life.

You might find yourself replaying conversations in your head, feeling emotionally exhausted by work or relationships, or noticing anxiety showing up in your body through panic, nausea, or difficulty relaxing. Many of the clients I work with are young adults and professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, and relationship stress while trying to keep up with work, dating, and life transitions. Others come to therapy feeling stuck in dating patterns or questioning their self-worth, while couples may be navigating loss of trust, infidelity, infertility, or feeling disconnected from the relationship they once had.

I invite anyone dealing with issues like anxiety, codependency, addiction, and eating disorders to work with me. For over 10 years I work well with people who are motivated and ready to make difficult changes in their lives—changes they’ve struggled to manage on their own and need more support with. I offer a warm and honest space to meet people where they are and walk with them through the process. My approach is relational and I gently challenge limiting beliefs and stories, whether it’s perfectionism or “not enoughness,” which often hold people back from being their most authentic and compassionate selves.

I believe we each have a core part of ourselves that is wise, confident, and desiring of secure connection with others. Single event or repeated traumatic experiences can distance us from this core part and we can find ourselves using coping mechanisms, such as excessive substance use and other self-harming behaviors, that no longer serve us or our relationships. Identifying the needs we are desperately trying to meet and exploring alternate ways to meet them can disrupt the cycle that keeps us feeling defeated and lead us towards more fulfilling relationships with ourselves and those we care about.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
