Hi I’m Lexi and I work with individuals and couples who are looking to grow to better understand themselves and their past in order to move forward. I offer counseling to individuals and couples from various socioeconomic backgrounds & military-connected men and women who are experiencing trauma, anger, or relational conflict. Reactions to traumatic events might feel like anger, depression, anxiety, or avoidance of feelings. Transition is a natural part of life whether a transition from high school to college, getting married or divorced, or changing careers. Both positive and negative transition can bring stress into the family. I work with Adults & Children 7 years and above. As a military combat veteran, I have interacted with cultures around the globe. Assisting active military, veterans, and their families is a passion of mine. Conversely, I have great experience in settings where the average client has not had military experience. I take a direct approach when working with people where you meeting your goals is the focus for the sessions.

I once read, "not everything that weighs you down is yours to carry". From that, I believe you can manifest connections that help lighten the load; which is probably how you got here. My goal in working with you is to provide support by observing and better utilizing your strengths while identifying what is getting in your way. Together we will explore how you can better manage symptoms of trauma, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and relationship stress while recognizing harmful coping mechanisms and behaviors that are holding you back, such as substance misuse and disordered eating.

My goal is to provide you with a safe and productive space to process your unique experiences. I strive to aid you in finding balance, identify desired areas of change, aid you in developing solutions based on your strengths, and adding to your coping skills to assit you in your journey to thriving. I have worked with large groups, military families, indigenous people of Alaska, youth and young adults in schools, agency, and private settings, adults, and geriatrics from across these United States of America. My practice specializes in marriage counseling and couple therapy. I also work with individuals on a wide-range of mental health, career transition, substance use, and life transition issues. I have worked with more than 2,800 couples in my career, addressing relationship concerns and finding solutions to chronic dissatisfaction, infidelity, poor communication, intimacy problems, and family conflict. For persons who are uncertain about remaining in their marriage, "discernment counseling" is available to help an ambivalent spouse gain clarity about their relationship commitment and options for bringing about needed change.

I’ve also assisted families and parents in implementing parenting skills and strengthening child and family relationships. By utilizing the preferred frameworks, clients will begin to pair strategies and skills with skills they already possess for mental health stability.

I have experience working with adults, young children, couples, and families. I focus on a variety of areas, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, grief, relationship issues, parenting, and more. For me, the main goal of counseling is for the client to discover what is important in their life as an individual and to focus on self-improvement.

My approach to therapy is guided by the things you hold as valuable, and what they mean for you; all while using a trauma-informed and queer affirming framework. I strive to provide a safe space without judgment. I have worked with people of all ages who have survived trauma & I also have experience working with LGBTQ+ folks in health related issues, coming out, violent experiences, internalized homophobia/transphobia, transitioning, adverse military experiences, & building resilience, etc.

She has a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Shari has been a Licensed Counselor in Louisiana since 2015 and Texas since 2023. Shari is also a Adjunct Professor at Upper Iowa University since 2012.

Hello, I have 25 years of experience having worked with various populations and issues. I believe that life is a journey that presents to us constant experiences for learning and growth to become your best self, whatever that means to you. Change is challenging as one becomes comfortable in the uncomfortable.
