Kayla Castelow is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Tennessee who has been practicing since 2018. She obtained her Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. Kayla enjoys working with individuals across the lifespan and is passionate about offering play therapy and expressive art therapy intervention techniques to children. When working with children, it is her goal to not only provide therapy to the child, but also to help parents develop skills to improve their family circumstances.
In addition to offering play and expressive art therapy interventions, Kayla also enjoys helping children, adolescents, and adults create goals for therapeutic change using a solution-focused therapy approach and incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques to help individuals and families learn new ways of thinking and behaving to produce change.
Kayla also conceptualizes symptoms from a systemic perspective to formulate hypotheses regarding the origin of problematic thought processes/behaviors. She implements the use of family genograms to map intergenerational cycles, which she believes helps produce insight as a launching place for initiating change.
