Since 1984, Brentwood Counseling Associates has been one of the most trusted group practices in the greater Nashville area. Our seasoned clinicians work with adults and children in individual therapy, as well as couples and families in relationship counseling. We treat depression, anxiety, relationship strain, trauma, career issues, grief/loss, and any other life circumstance that’s getting in the way of happiness or performance. In addition, we also offer ADHD evaluation and treatment.

I work with a wide range of clients who have experienced trauma, issues in their family dynamic, communication, peer groups, self-esteem, and relationships. I am most passionate about working with individuals as they explore the deep parts of themselves and uncover new insights. Many of my clients work to improve relationships, gain tools and strategies for day to day struggles, and explore, process, and find healing from past traumas and old wounds.

Lauren Michelle Wells is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and child and adolescent therapist with nearly 30 years of experience. Lauren has a significant history in play therapy with young children, juvenile sexual behavior problems, sexually reactive youth and victimization issues, behavior management, and autism/developmental delays.

My specialty is RELATIONSHIP COACHING, seeing clients as couples as well as individually. I offer specific protocols for successful relationships especially designed for difficult situations, including betrayal. I have been practicing Clinical Psychology for 30+ years and have been with Brentwood Counseling Associates, the oldest psychological practice in this area, since 1988. I see clients of all ages, starting from adolescence. Sub-specialties include: ADDICTIONS; ANXIETY; DEPRESSION; SPIRITUAL/RELIGIOUS ISSUES. HYPNOTHERAPY can be used for these problems, or for smoking cessation, weight issues, fear of flying and other phobias. I am a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

My practice centers around helping people who are dealing with intense life challenges like anxiety, depression, self esteem issues or relational conflict etc. The typical clients I see are professional men or women, athletes or performers, and teenage boys. People coming to therapy want change in their lives and are struggling. I believe people will change or heal if they have someone in their corner who cares, understands, and compassionately redirects them toward their own internal resources each week. My main goal is to help you find your own inner resource of calm and confidence.

As a certified grief counseling specialist and grief educator, I have learned grief is a story of the heart, it changes us and must be witnessed. Grief can leave us feeling depressed, anxious, lonely, vulnerable, and scared. I provide grief counseling and hold space for hope to those who have experienced: a death-related loss, divorce, lost childhood due to dysfunction in the family system, and any significant life-changing event that causes pain. Sharing your grief story is the first step on the journey to healing the pain of loss.

Welcome! My practice provides psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, emerging adults and families. Sometimes events like transitions, trauma, loss, and adjustment to divorce or limited social support trigger difficulties. As a result, conflicts, depression, anxiety, emotional outbursts, academic decline, isolation, addiction or other risky behaviors can emerge. I support clients and families as they overcome these challenges. I believe in the capacity to grow, change, and move towards self-identified goals. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and focuses on the therapy relationship, incorporating meditation/mindfulness practices, self-acceptance, development of coping skills, and repairing relationships.

Others feel the burdens of childhood trauma or messy family dynamics. Others may feel like imposters in their work or social environments and desire to be more confident with who they are.

I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including community mental health, residential facilities, case management, and Private Practice since 2011.
