Trust and respect: Two requirements for love to grow. If your relationship is in trouble, these parts are probably missing. I specialize in helping couples rebuild when trust and respect are lost.
Nothing damages a relationship more than betrayal. There is a process to not just recovering from, but redeeming what has happened. In many ways the betrayal is like a big boulder in the way of your relationship. Couples who don't address the boulder end up dragging it with them. The goal of counseling is to push the boulder out of the way and leave it behind.

In practice since 1987, I enjoy helping couples untangle their knots, improve their communication, resolve issues, rebuild trust, and restore closeness. I counsel with couples going through separation as well as couples/individuals facing divorce. Being certified by Prepare-Enrich, I'm experienced in premarital and newlywed counseling. I'm also a Level 2 Gottman couples therapist.

I decided to become a therapist because of my own struggles with mental health issues especially as an adolescent and young adult. I want to take these awful experiences and use them as motivation to help others. If you are an over thinker, I believe I can help. I work with engineers, executives, health care professionals, teachers, and pretty much any person who is in a profession that tends to reward perfectionism and over analysis.

I appreciate working with individuals who have been hesitant towards or suspicious of therapy (or maybe still are!) If you’ve found yourself disconnected, frustrated, or unfulfilled in relationships, or have the belief that you or others close to you are “too sensitive” because of anxiety or emotional responses in general, we may be a good fit to work together.
Anxiety and self-judgement can cause us to avoid or numb out, and the avoidance can lead to an increase in the anxiety and self-judgement. I am passionate about working with clients who have been caught in this loop and are feeling on edge about making a change.

One of the most powerful steps we can take in life is choosing to heal. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, or long-held patterns that no longer serve you, I love helping people find clarity, relief, and a renewed sense of self through deep, meaningful therapeutic work. We all carry the weight of past experiences, some of which have shaped us in ways we don’t fully understand until we begin to slow down and pay attention.

I like to describe myself as a coach masquerading as a therapist. Obviously, I am a therapist with the necessary experience and skills to meet my clients where they are. But, I am also a determined advocate who works with individuals to chart a clear path to wholeness. From unhealth to health. From destabilized to stabilized. From stuck to freedom. I know the way forward because I’ve made the journey myself. I create a specific roadmap with each of my clients and walk with them the entire way. There is a way forward. Let’s chart the course to your freedom together.

Somewhere along the line, you lost touch with yourself. It was such a gradual shift, you hardly noticed it happening. Each time you tried to speak up at work, that critical voice in your head would chime in—"You're embarrassing yourself." Eventually, you just stopped speaking. After dates, you'd replay every moment in your head until the anxiety made you feel sick. So, you figured dating just wasn’t worth the stress. Bit by bit, you pulled back—from people, from opportunities, from joy. You stopped taking risks, stopped feeling deeply. And with each passing day, your world became a little smaller.

As an LPC/MHSP-Temp, CSAT-C, and graduate-level clinician (Ed.S., Clinical Mental Health Counseling), I specialize in working with individuals facing intimacy disorders, including sex addiction, love addiction, and pornography addiction—struggles that often create shame and disconnection from others. From an object relations perspective, I view these behaviors not as defects but as adaptive responses to underlying wounds and unmet relational needs. In therapy, I help clients cultivate authenticity and vulnerability within a safe, attuned relationship, fostering insight into their relationship with themselves and others.

I recognize that starting counseling takes courage and vulnerability and I love creating a safe space for clients and meeting them where they are at with acceptance, empathy, warmth, and wisdom. I work with children, teenagers, couples, and individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, spirituality, relationships, trauma, spiritual abuse, career and life transitions, parenting, and perinatal issues.

My approach to therapy is rooted in connection and safety. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship for healing and growth, and I strive to create a safe, accepting space for each of my clients. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, psychodynamic perspective, exploring with clients how past experiences, attachment, and trauma have impacted them. I believe in the importance of acknowledging the whole self in the healing process, and I often incorporate ideas from Somatic Experiencing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, playtherapy/expressive arts, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into counseling.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
