Accepting New Clients: I believe one of the most courageous things you can do is to reflect on your life story and acknowledge your barriers to living a life that aligns with your core values. As a clinician, I work with clients to create a blueprint on how to live a life that is filled with vitality and purpose. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who primarily works with married couples, young adults, and adolescents. Additionally, I teach an Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents that struggle with anxiety and depression.

Our organizational mission is to improve access to quality mental health care in the rural Kansas area, particularly Baldwin City/Lawrence/Ottawa/Gardner, and other neighboring towns. We believe, by establishing firmly planted roots within Kansas, partnering with families and local communities and organizations, providing mental health services, and connecting families with educational resources, that the path to hope can be discovered in the midst of a seemingly hopeless circumstance.

I approach therapy from a holistic, client-centered, strengths-based approach. I utilize the cognitive behavioral, and acceptance and commitment therapy models to help clients make sense of the past and build new resources to take ownership of the future. In addition, I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to aid clients in connecting to their internal world and recognizing their thoughts and behaviors without judgment, so they can live a more fulfilling life. I am also trained and informed in positive psychotherapy and solution-focused therapy approaches.

I have considerable experience working with children and families who are involved with the Child In Need of Care system and the Juvenile Justice Administration system within Kansas. I have worked with families experiencing difficulties with Parenting issues, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance and Anger issues. I work closely with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing issues related to stress management, relationship enhancement, communication, conflict resolution, relaxation, time management and assist with techniques for self-care. I work extensively with individuals having difficulties with depression, anxiety, bipolar, grief and loss, divorce, adjustment disorders and unresolved childhood trauma.

I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years providing support to adults and adolescents. I believe that each individual is the expert in their own growth, change or recovery and I am here to assist in this journey. I have extensive experience working with veterans and also provide couples counseling.

Dr. Mark is a Certified Addiction Sexual Therapist/Partner therapist who walks families and partners through their crises. Trained and certified/licensed with EMDR and Sexual Addictions. He works in a trauma-based perspective with the whole family. His training in DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy), family systems, and solution-focused brief therapeutic methods offers a variety of effective skills. Treatment plans are offered and clients find struggle hope. Clients are guided to find new valuable insights about themselves and they find healthy balanced success thereafter.

My ideal client is someone willing to be goal oriented. I believe therapy is a two way street and we need to be able to listen together. I provide a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescents who are trying to figure out their place in society, and for Parents looking better connect with their children. I am easy to talk to and very straightforward.

As a therapist, I have years of experience with working with adults and children, all of whom come from unique backgrounds. This includes children in foster care, children and adults in a community mental health setting, as well as working with adults and children experiencing mental health crisis. My specialty is working with adults and children that struggle with anxiety, depression, bereavement, and have difficulty expressing or managing their frustration or anger. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community when it comes to the unique challenges this marginalized group faces.
