I love to help struggling families cope with conflict that can arise from our day-to-day lives. My goal is to help you identify factors (i.e. emotions, behaviors) that contribute to family conflict, and help families find a way to resolve these issues while strengthening the family core.

Life can be difficult at times and it can be hard to deal with our struggles on our own. There is hope and I can help you find peace and happiness I know you deserve. My goal is to provide a safe, open environment where you can process your struggles and be genuinely heard. I believe therapy to be a collaborative process where my clients rewrite the negative thoughts, feelings, and stories they have about themselves and are empowered to create new, positive life experiences.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has years of experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Mood Disorders, Marriage/Relationship Issues, Parenting Issues, Trauma, Grief and Loss, Spiritual Issues, Elderly Issues, ADHD, and Behavior Issues in Children,

Drawing on my previous experience as a youth pastor, I enjoy working with children, teenagers, and young adults. As a play therapist, I have worked extensively with children who are struggling with ADHD and trauma. I also enjoy working with couples and families, and individuals who struggle with addiction, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues and PTSD. The challenge of parenting sparks my interest and I enjoy using humor, emotion coaching, and intergenerational systemic family theories to illuminate and strengthen the resources that parents already have to offer. I believe that solutions can be found by viewing obstacles as opportunities for repair.

We're all faced with challenges, big and small. Sometimes these grow to overpower and overwhelm us. The adults, children, and families I work with say that I help them feel heard, valued, comfortable, and that I provide a safe place to explore options and pick the right solutions.

Stress affects us all in different ways. Short term counseling with cognitive behavior therapy can many times lead to a reduction in problems. I evaluate persons to better identify issues such as children with ADHD, autism, or intellectual disabilities or adults with PTSD and emotional trauma are a focus of evaluation and treatment. I evaluate persons prior to bariatric surgery, for pre-employment and return to work issues, and several court related or forensic issues. The saying 'if you don't test, it's just a guess' is a keystone of my practice.

DaKie is a Licensed Master Social Worker and has experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. DaKie utilizes interventions and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). DaKie is currently pursing his Clinical Licensure and Play Therapy Certificate from Heartland Play Therapy Insitute. DaKie received his bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a Psychology minor and his Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kansas.

In my experience, people tend to come to therapy due to something failing to grow or be safe. Unsafe emotions, unsafe behaviors, lack of communication, lack of connection, and understanding that these issues arise in all relationships rather we are talking about parent child or intimate partners. As a therapist, I have focused my practice on working with trans and queer children and adults; hell-raising teenagers; families dealing with the foster care system; and garden variety anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

I specialize in Anxiety, Autism, Attention Deficit, Mood Disorders, and Motivation in adults and children. My therapy approach was developed through years of academic and medical research focusing on motivation, attention, and anxiety. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master's degree in social welfare in 2011. I have held research and clinical positions at the University of Colorado, Duke University, Comcare and KU Medical Center. I made the move to private practice in 2016.
