I don’t have a couch, and I’m not going to ask you to talk about your feelings all session. You have a problem, and I want to help you find the solution, so you don’t need to carry that weight any longer. In my experience, people tend to come to therapy due to something failing to grow or be safe. Unsafe emotions, unsafe behaviors, lack of communication, lack of connection, and understanding that these issues arise in all relationships rather we are talking about parent child or intimate partners. How we deal with conflict matters, because it dictates the relationship and boundaries with our kids, friends, family, and partners.
I use a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach, which uses evidenced based intervention and prevention methods to address your issue, and not simply repeating back what you just said or asking how you feel about it. My approach equips you with the tools that you need to manage and reduce the emotional or behavioral symptoms to the trigger.
There are times where our problems become overwhelming, embarrassing, or even may bring shame. I am not here to judge you or your situation. I merely want to help you find the solutions to be able to lay down those negative feelings, so that feelings of health and wellness can take their place.
