Hello, I'm Julia Garcia. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in the behavioral health field for more than 30 years, beginning as a resource outreach counselor, then eventually as a clinical therapist over the years, working with infants, adolescents, families, and women with trauma and SUD issues. I am a trauma-focused therapist who enjoys working with families and individuals. I utilized a trauma-focused approach to CBT, DBT, PCIT, Grief, and Parenting issues. I have found that CBT and DBT approaches work well to assist clients who have extensive trauma-based issues.
Although clinically trained to work as an Infant Mental Health clinician, I enjoy working with women who have extensive trauma and SUD issues. Individuals with depression, anxiety, grief, and SUD issues based on their trauma are what I enjoy working with.
I like to start slow. I like to get to know my client a little beyond their symptoms. I believe in starting small, one or two initially, but specific and measurable so that it is attainable or achievable and relevant to their need/outcome for success.
