Aloha, my name is Jessica Torralva, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the State of Hawaii. I work at a local non-profit agency, as the State Multisystemic Therapy Expert, where I am responsible for ensuring program adherence to the MST model, an evidenced-based practice provided to families of Hawaii. I am a few months away from completing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and work in private practice mainly with active military and their dependents conducting individual, couples, and family therapy.
I also provide training to community providers and have previously taught psychology courses for an international University. I believe that the client sets their treatment goals as it guides treatment. I also believe that goals can be fluid and can change depending on the client's situation and other priorities that may arise in their lives.
Because of my person-centered approach to therapy, my communication style is very open, fluid and comes from a warm, empathic place. I believe that joining with the client and matching their energy helps create a positive therapeutic relationship. My client population includes individuals and couples who range in age from young adult to late adulthood.
