While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. Regardless of age, social status, or family of origin, the way we feel about ourselves affects the way we see the world, experience our lives, and manage our relationships. Having local roots but being born and raised in "the big city" on the mainland, I know from experience what it's like growing up with a variety of obstacles and needing to navigate the sometimes fearsome and foreboding world. These experiences have fueled my present day commitment to help others stand up, have hope, and see possibilities.

I have always been humbled by this profession and the incredible gift of being a guest in someone's journey of self-discovery. Life is filled with many obstacles that often come in some form of pain; emotional, physical, existential, etc. and if we are willing to listen and be in its presence, we will hear it speak gently but clearly of the pieces of ourselves to keep, the pieces to improve and the pieces to let go of. As Ryan Holiday so greatly states "The Obstacle is the Way." If you are looking for someone to walk alongside you as you find your way, I would be honored to meet you.

Aloha! My name is Dr. Isaiah Moreno and I offer supportive therapy that encourages awareness, hope, and change. At the most fundamental level, people have a deep desire to be heard, understood, and known. As we build a collaborative relationship, our hope is that we can offer an encounter, where people can create a corrective emotional experience through therapy. I encourage clients to find a therapist with the right "fit," where they feel that the story of their lives can be held with the deepest care and respect.

Our understanding of health, and what it means to be "healthy," has changed over the years. We now have a better understanding of what a healthy lifestyle looks and feels like. Being "healthy" might look like less pain, better and more sleep, maintaining a healthy weight, less stress, and more social connections. The problem is, we struggle to make changes to improve our health. Even when we are motivated to make changes, we can become discouraged at the first sign of "failure." By looking closely at thoughts, behaviors, and emotions we can work together to set simple and realistic goals that will help you achieve a healthier life!

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
