As a healer and psychotherapist of 29 years, I have found Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Spirituality work synergistically to heal both Heart and Soul.
I believe it is an act of profound courage and faith in oneself to enter into therapy! Whether you have been longing to be more connected to yourself or others, or are yearning for a sense of belonging, reaching out for support and guidance on your journey toward healing can be immensely helpful. Maybe you would like to be free from the patterns of pain that have held you back or dimmed your heart, like anxiety, self-limiting beliefs, depression, shame, loneliness or trauma caused by past or present experiences. While such complex emotions can feel insurmountable, you need not be alone as you seek balance and healing in your life.

I utilize a combination of EMDR, IFS, and ART (accelerated resolution therapy), cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, as well as somatic (body), solution-focused and person-centered therapies.
You feel like you aren't living your best life and are ready to find out why. You're struggling to let go of the past, you are anxious, depressed, or suffering with symptoms related to trauma, low self-worth, addiction, or relationship problems. Maybe you feel like you are living your life on autopilot, just going through the motions. You want to prioritize yourself and are willing to make an investment in your mental health and wellness because deep down you know there must be more to life than just struggling and existing. It's time to (re) claim your authentic, resilient self!

It can be so difficult to ask for help and it takes courage to take this first step in starting therapy. I recognize that it can be daunting to talk about the challenges you are facing and make the changes you are looking for. I believe that every person has the ability to grow given the proper tools and support. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist that provides services to adults (ages 18 and older) and I honor diversity in my practice. My aim is to partner with you to create a space where you will feel empowered to reach your goals in treatment and improve your overall well-being.

Your relationships are important. While you don't expect to agree 100% of the time, you desire more harmony. You want to work together and may not know how to begin. I create a safe space to explore what's going on, and discover ways to make it better. I teach communication techniques that help you understand and stay connected through challenging times. Couples report I have helped them: argue less, recapture intimacy, resolve sex issues, resolve money issues, recover from affairs, decide the status of their relationship, establish parenting and visitation plans, mediate separation agreements and more.

You woke up again from another bad night of sleep. Foggy headed and feeling sick and embarrassed, angry and sad. You keep trying to do the right thing, but it never seems to be enough and it leaves you feeling tired, overwhelmed, and like a burden to people you care about. You wish they were proud of you and that you could make them happy, but you’re afraid that your partner or friends will leave you. Every time you cut yourself off from them with another drink, another hit, you just find yourself more embarrassed by what you’ve done and feel more alone because you think you’re the only one having these struggles. You’re not.

I am currently not taking on new clients-Initiating steps to join therapy is brave, courageous, and vulnerable. My practice is aimed to support queer, trans, and gender diverse individuals. Having intersecting identities involves many moving parts. These moving parts may cause you to experience feelings of being scared, exhausted, disrespected, and empowered all due to a society that was built with White/Cis/Het ideologies. I want to learn from you and support you to grow into your authentic self so that you may live your life to its fullest.

I use evidence-based interventions – primarily a therapy called Internal Family Systems (IFS) – to help people tap into that innate wisdom.
My clients often come to therapy grappling with uncertainty, high stress, or loneliness in their lives. Sometimes they are feeling intense emotions, or behaving in ways that are confusing and frustrating for them. They may be feeling disconnected from other people, or feeling overly worried about how others perceive them. They are seeking more connection, peace and balance in their day-to-day.

In addition to curiosity, creativity, humor, and presence, I bring training in Internal Family Systems, expressive arts therapy, somatic/body-based and nature-based therapies, and more.
So many of us have been cut off from our bodies, creativity, and exploring or expressing our authentic selves. I’m passionate about helping you revive those connections so you can live more of the life you want.  Doing that often isn’t easy, but it can be so worth it, and you deserve access to your full aliveness. My goal is to create a space where you can explore your diverse experiences and fully welcome all aspects of your multifaceted self. Whether you're looking to feel more connected and resourced, heal from trauma, shift patterns, or reclaim your voice, creativity, or agency, I'd love to support you.

No two people are the same, and so I work creatively using trauma-informed therapeutic approaches from psychodynamic, EMDR, attachment, mindfulness, IFS, and cognitive-behavioral therapies uniquely tailored to you.
I specialize in the really hard stuff life throws our way. I work with adults, college students, and teens affected by grief and loss, complex trauma (abuse and neglect) and PTSD, serious and chronic health conditions (like cancer, ALS, MS, MD), disability, and other big life changes and challenges resulting in depression and anxiety. I believe that our inability to control what happens to us is not something to be overcome. Instead, it is the reality of life that we all live within. This is where the real work of being a person begins. And this is where good, meaningful, compassionate therapy comes in. I'm glad you're here.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
