We specialize in evaluating and treating ADHD in adults and teenagers.
Do you find it so difficult to focus that it interferes with your work, school, or relationships? Do you or your teen become easily distracted? Is it really hard to remain organized despite your best efforts? Inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity are three common problems associated with ADHD , which affects about 5% of people. It is much more serious than just having trouble concentrating. ADHD creates real difficulties for teens and college students at school, presents barriers to adults' success at work, and strains relationships between people with ADHD and those who care about them.

“If you want to go quickly, go alone. But, if you want to go far, go together.” Life is like an arena, and sometimes we want to throw in the towel. Sometimes we don’t see ourselves where we want to be in our lives or careers. We have habits we can’t break. Our relationships leave us frustrated. Or they don’t exist at all. We’re tired, lonely, and overwhelmed. Maybe it seems like the only one to blame is ourselves. But… We Always Have A Choice! It’s my mission to help you learn to take the reins of your life. Together, we will maximize your chances for success, your sense of fulfillment, and your freedom to choose for yourself.

I am a Licensed Social Worker and have experience working with adolescents and adults with autism, ADHD , addiction, eating disorders, and codependency.
Living in a city as big as Chicago offers many opportunities yet it can sometimes feel overwhelming, lonely, and even isolating. Are you hiding certain pieces of yourself from your friends or family to avoid conflict or to fit in? You might feel like no one knows the real you. You’ve noticed a shift in how you deal with stress. Maybe it’s coming out as increased drinking, binging or restricting food, or turning to other coping behaviors. Or maybe you’re in recovery but other parts of your life continue to feel unmanageable which feels frustrating. You no longer need to feel trapped. Change is possible and hope can be found.

If you or someone in your family is struggling and you don't know what's wrong, or if you suspect ADHD and want a more definitive answer, I also offer psychological testing for children (ages 8+), adolescents, and adults to identify any academic, behavioral, or emotional problems; as well as provide recommendations for effective treatment strategies.
Do you feel stressed out and tired of trying to do everything yourself? Have you been thinking about talking to someone, but it hasn't felt like the right time yet? And is it getting harder to set certain thoughts and feelings aside and "just not think about it?" I specialize in helping people work through stressful transitions and high-conflict situations. Through individual or couple's therapy, we can work together to find peace again and achieve the goals which you've wanted but have felt out of reach.

My specialties include LGBTQ+, gender identity, sexuality, ADHD , Anxiety, Neurodevelopmental and behavioral emotional disorders, and parent management training.
Finding the right therapist can be a daunting and vulnerable task, whether you're new to the process or a seasoned pro. As you're scrolling through endless profiles and bios, you may ask yourself "Do I belong here?". I became a therapist to give people the safe space, supportive relationship and perspective that they may not get in other aspects of their lives. I also hope to challenge the stigma that may have discouraged them from engaging in the therapy process.

Hello. My pronouns are he/him. Are you wondering whether you (or your child) might have an emotional, learning, or behavioral disorder - or may be neurodiverse? I evaluate for ADHD , Dyslexia, PTSD, OCD, Bipolar, Borderline, and Autism. Psychological/neuropsychological testing is a way to understand the "root" of these concerns or labels. Often, the results can help you obtain accommodations in school/college, be useful if you feel "stuck" in psychotherapy or with medications, or want to learn about your emotions, memory, personality, interests, reasoning (IQ), relationships, and strengths. (Note: I do not provide psychotherapy).

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
