Horses have an innate sense of the suffering of their herd. They are hyper-attuned to the needs of others around them. When I work with my horses they are able to pick up on the underlying needs and desires of my clients. They know when you are feeling angry, isolated, or restless. The horses are able to attune to your emotions while I help you to put those feelings into words and do the necessary work to solve life's challenges. Together, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery.

I enjoy working with neurospicy/neurosparkly people, queer people, chronically ill people, and people who simply are ready to dive into what it means to be a human in this world. I believe in the interconnectedness of the body, the mind, and the spirit and will bring it all into our sessions if that is what calls to you. I don't believe in pushing people to disclose if they don't want to. I work within a framework of consent and open-heartedness at all times. I want you to feel safe when you are with me and to learn how to hold that space for yourself as well. Please check out my website at mountainmeadowllc.me for more about me.

Hi! I am a bilingual therapist with over 20 years of experience. In 2000, I finished my Counseling education at Arizona State University. For the first few years, I worked in an in-patient mental health facility. Over time, I was more drawn to outpatient work and began starting my own Private Practice in 2006 called Life Transitions Counseling. Recently, I have spent time traveling the world working as a Military Family Life Counselor, aiding in the mental health care of our service members and their family members.

The world of work can be hard, especially for leaders and managers! After working as a HR leader, and helping organizations with change and leadership development, I left the corporate world to support people with challenges that are impacting them in their world of work. The difficult thing is that sometimes "work" challenges are really "us" challenges. Participating in healing and growth (which is what makes us human), can be difficult in what can feel like a quick and callous world. Sometimes work is our safe space, or "the only normal part of my life" and I'm here for that too!

It feels like you’ve just been existing but not truly living. You don’t want to burden others with your struggle, but every day feels the same. Alarm. Snooze. Alarm. Shower. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. You get through the day battling a harsh inner critic who tells you that you’re not good enough and you don’t deserve success or happiness. You’re not even sure where that voice came from, but it’s causing you to be stressed, even depressed. Life’s challenges—whether from within or external circumstances—have created a heavy burden, making it difficult to see your own worth and potential.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
