People seek therapy for many reasons. Perhaps you are in a crisis, confronting a life transition (divorce, retirement, death, illness, empty nest, new relationship), having difficulty coping with work stress, using/abusing substances, or "feeling stuck" and unable to make positive life changes. I believe that most of us have blind spots - emotional patterns or behaviors that can get in the way of our healing or fully exploring life’s challenges and opportunities. My role is to provide clinical insight and guidance that is collaborative and respectful, supporting your unique journey toward recovery and growth.

I am particularly passionate about perinatal mental health, including pregnancy/infant loss, infertility, postpartum, and adjustment to parenthood.
While each of our lives include their fair share of ups and downs, sometimes we need support to help us navigate what's going on. Life can be very stressful and it is normal to seek guidance when we need it. Whether you're dealing with general feelings of unhappiness, depression, anxiety, anger, resentment, low self-esteem, or experiencing challenging reactions to relationship issues, life transitions, grief, or trauma, I am here to help you on your path to healing. While I am located in New Jersey, I also maintain clinical licensure in Washington, DC and am certified to provide teletherapy in Florida and Vermont.

Since I have a background in hospice social work, my sub-specialty is in providing support for all ages coping with issues surrounding death and dying.
Seeking therapy for your child can be overwhelming and is important to work with a therapist who is collaborative and consistently available to parents. I specialize in play therapy with young children and psychotherapy for teens and I work with youngsters coping with chronic medical illness. My approach is creative, warm and accessible to all family members and I utilize a variety of treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral strategies, art therapy, sand play therapy and group counseling. I assist parents in becoming "on the same page" regarding their children and I help caregivers to review their own parenting styles.

I use integrated techniques that combine EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Hypnotherapy (Hypnosis), Attachment-based and Trauma-informed therapy. I help people manage and improve their lives burdened by painful life events & triggers stemming from Developmental Trauma and Attachment Ruptures. The goal is to learn how to minimize maladaptive reactions to triggers and better manage stressful situations. The way we get there is by integrating our body, mind, and spirit.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
