I have worked with and successfully helped individuals facing issues such as: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, those facing serious medical challenges and finding quality and meaning in your life again.
It is not always easy to make the decision to reach out for help, but it can make all the difference in your life. In our personal efforts to find solutions to issues we are faced with, we can find ourselves repeating patterns over and over that keep us stuck and feeling isolated despite our many efforts to improve our situation. Connecting with a skilled therapist can help you to move beyond your struggles, move beyond repeating patterns and approach life in a different, more meaningful and effective way. I am licensed in NJ, NY, and FL. In network with Aetna and traditional Medicare.

You're bullied by an unrelenting inner critic. It's crushing your self-esteem. You work so hard to do everything right and check all the boxes, never letting down your guard, never letting them see you sweat. The worry, stress, and fear of disappointing others is exhausting. You thought once you had it all figured out, you’d finally feel okay, right? But you always feel like no matter what you do, it’s never enough. It's so frustrating being plagued by anxiety, perfectionism or even depression. And numbing out just makes it worse. At what point do you get to enjoy this life? Deep down you feel broken and don't know how to fix it.

Life is challenging and it's not surprising that many of us struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulty making decisions and building healthy relationships. Many of us have received the message that we aren’t “good enough”. These messages can come from many different sources and it can be difficult not to internalize these unhealthy belief systems. We will work together to get a better understanding of how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors have been impacted by past and present experiences and what you can do to not allow these negative experiences define who you are today.

I have experience supporting people through a number of challenges including anxiety, chronic illness, insomnia, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma, substance use, personal growth, and navigating relationships.
Sometimes it feels like we're moving through life on auto-pilot. With work and other stressors, it is hard to find time to slow down, to breathe, to focus on the present. I believe therapy is about letting go of the things we are trying to control and making choices towards a more fulfilling life. To facilitate this, I help clients openly face life’s challenges and create lasting changes. I offer a collaborative, non-judgmental, and safe space for my clients to facilitate behavior change and self-exploration.

Every morning, you wake up dreading the day ahead. You fight and claw your way through your way through the grief you are feeling. It feels as though you’re constantly playing catch up, and no matter how hard you work, you can never get ahead because you are stuck with thoughts of loss, pain, and the past. You are engulfed in a profound sense of grief, feeling utterly disconnected from your daily life. The weight of your loss is suffocating, leaving you adrift in a sea of hopelessness. The doubts creep in, questioning the validity of your emotions. Lost in a fog of despair, you wonder if this darkness will ever lift.

Many of us are looking for a therapist who is the right fit, understands the issues we’re bringing up, and can help us work through our challenges to feel better about ourselves. Mental health issues can be difficult to manage alone and having a supportive therapist can make all the difference.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
