Are you feeling caught between contradictory feelings of hope and despair? Finding a space where we can feel deeply understood is important to developing a secure sense of self. Psychotherapy offers a reflective space to explore the wordless thoughts, the nameless pain or the inner conflicts that may inhibit us. Through therapy a greater sense of integrity and meaning in life is possible. When we respond with genuine understanding and acceptance, hope may be restored and joy found. I listen to clients with openness and intuition. I encourage those I work with to begin to trust their own inner resources and find their own resilience.
Specializations include bereavement which may alternate between feelings of melancholy, worthlessness, anger or numbness. I'm well versed in related issues of depression and anxiety, with effects on relationships, productivity, and well-being. I'm particularly interested in dissociative patterns experienced as "not me" feelings, self-esteem issues and shame.
I'm moved by how transitions like leaving home, becoming parents, losing a job or a loved one, and coping with aging can challenge us to reassess who we are. I've studied how trauma passes through generations and can disrupt our sense of self. Finding a way to share with an understanding other, to shine light on our dark struggles, can be deeply rewarding.
