When your relationship is suffering, you're suffering. Oftentimes, terribly so. Maybe the partner you used to feel so close to now seems more like a distant stranger. Maybe a betrayal has left you outraged and alone. Maybe all the fighting and miscommunication makes you wonder at times what you ever saw in this person at all.

I am passionate about helping adult individuals and couples build connection, and more satisfying, healthy relationships, through addressing sex and intimacy issues; addiction, codependency, and the impacts of trauma. Together, we may untangle patterns of intimacy avoidance, attachment wounds, betrayal trauma, parentification, and emotional or covert incest. I believe healing occurs within relationship through collaboration, curiosity, and respect. I support this value in practice by working through a trauma-informed, multicultural lens, with a sex-positive/kink-affirming approach to intimacy, relationship, and sexual wellness.

As a therapist I believe the most important thing I can emphasize in the relationship is autonomy. Addressing the shortcomings of the profession in the past I seek to create a collaborative environment where you as the client understand where our work is going and that it can be addressed at any time. I have an interest working with clients dealing with trauma, clients from the LGBTQ population (in particular the transgender and transgender non-binary experience) and couples. I hope to provide clarity and a greater understanding of your emotional world and what options you have to become the person you wish to be.

I am a Sex Therapist and LCPC providing psychotherapy services to adults. I believe that all individuals have the power to create change in their lives. Through this process, I assist clients in identifying patterns in their life that may no longer be serving them. My therapeutic approach is grounded in an integrative application of Psychodynamic and Existential Therapy. I have received advanced training in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan.

Hi! I’m Cassy and I’m here to help you get your stuff together. For 12 years, I have been assisting clients dealing through a wide range of life transitions and everyday stressors. My approach is direct, solution-focused, and client-centered. My goal is your goal. I want to help you identify where you keep getting stuck and set goals for a better balanced, less "chaotic" life. A little chaos isn’t a bad thing. It’s okay to have a beautifully messy life. When the amount of chaos and stress is no longer keeping you on your toes, but bringing you down, it’s time to shift.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
