Committing to time for your mental health or that of your family is a big step that shows strength and the beginning of a wonderful journey to change. I understand that it can be vulnerable and scary, which is why we will work at your pace and find solutions that make sense to you. This is YOUR journey, and I am along for the ride as a supportive guide, whether it is for you, your child, or your family. I chose to seek a career in mental health after 10 years of experience in the education field. Children and families need therapists who understand them and can help manage the ups and downs of changes in their lives.

With families, I assist family members in understanding the system they are a part of and the dynamics occurring.
I look forward to working with clients who are feeling stuck, have a sense of stagnation in their lives, have been unable to make change, or adjust to transitions. This could be in the context of relationships, family, career, or inner life. Therapy is a place where together we can explore a client's personal values, uncover barriers to growth, identify patterns of thought and behavior that the client was previously unaware of, and improve quality of life. In therapy, we will work towards increased knowledge of self, personal growth, resiliency, identity, courage, and self-determination.

I work with individuals to address sexual health related issues that may be getting in the way of a healthy and satisfying sex life. I help couples and individuals to improve overall sexual health and connectedness, while also working to improve overall relationship satisfaction and communication. Issues may include: sexual pain, desire discrepancies, orgasm problems, discomfort with your body image, sexual boredom, etc. I recognize that change can be difficult and seek to provide the support you need to achieve your goals by listening to you, helping to identify the outcome you desire, and motivating you to reach your goals.

I really love helping people learn to practice new ways of thinking and being in the world and in their relationships. Our need to stay busy in our minds and in our bodies in order to escape difficult feelings creates depression and anxiety and keeps us from healing. I help people slow down and learn how to make a genuine connection to their inner world and begin a journey of healing and hope.

My ideal client is an adult or couple looking to find support in managing daily life or adjusting to change. This could include searching for a sense of identity/belonging, experiencing a sense of loss, experiencing mental health symptoms, and coping with life's general difficulties. When meeting with someone my goal is to provide a bubble of safety and to act as a pole of trust. For each person to know that I can sit with them in the weight of what they have been carrying, and walk alongside through this path of discovery.

We know how important it is to have options when you decide to reach out for support. As a group of clinicians invested in your wellbeing, we provide individual and group counseling to adults, children (ages 4+), families, and couples. Because we cannot determine when life stressors or increasing mental health concerns will occur, you may be able to be seen the same day of your call.

Relationships are a vital part of all life. We learn about ourselves, others, & the world around us through our relationships. Trauma, oppression, abuse, emotional wounds, grief/loss, & many other challenges can be overwhelming, create disconnection, & leave us feeling hopeless. Under certain conditions those challenges can offer us a place from where we can learn, heal, & grow. This process is not linear and is unique to each of us. I'm dedicated to creatively collaborating with you to bring more ease and authenticity into your life & relationships.

When you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed it can be difficult to find the courage to seek therapeutic support. My hope is that through our sessions you will be able to find peace in the chaos of life. I believe our struggles teach us to center our attention around a part of us that needs to grow. I can help you create this change and manage the feelings that come with this rewarding work.

In therapy, I use a variety of techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family systems, and mindfulness.
As a therapist, I seek to join my clients in the creative process of therapy, to come up with helpful solutions to ease their struggles and bring more joy back into their lives. We walk together through the fog in search of pockets of sunshine. I strive to not only see my clients’ emotional health, but also their physical, spiritual, and relational health, looking to each for clues that might hold healing. I am innately curious, compassionate, and focused on my clients’ strengths.

I offer individual, couples, and family therapy.
I work with clients by offering psychotherapy integrated with art-making and/or evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness). Together, we creatively explore your feelings, thoughts, relationships, and set goals. Treatment can address: anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, relationships, or other stress-related issues. Past traumas and adverse events create negative self-beliefs that are maladaptive and impact each of us presently. Through a non-judgmental and compassionate lens, I hope to work with you and begin the process of healing creatively.

I offer a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and specialize in treating trauma using Acceleration Resolution Therapy (ART) when treating betrayal trauma, PTSD, etc.
Life can make you feel like you're in over your head, trying to navigate your way without support or tools. This can be painful and debilitating. The gift of therapy offers a healing and unique space to find discernment and meaning in your suffering, while developing skills to forge a clarified version of you and learning to lay down your past so you can become who you were meant to be. Healing can be painful and lonely, but you won’t have to do it alone. I am honored to walk with you on your healing journey while we transform experiences of depression, addiction, anxiety, trauma, infidelity or a new medical diagnosis.

If you want to investigate what therapy might be like for you or for a family member, please email or call me.
Whatever experiences life has brought our way, we continue towards wholeness and healing. Our inner drive is towards wholeness. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship we can nurture the part of us that allows us to heal, make better decisions and achieve the goals we desire. I really believe in the power that we all have to heal, make sense of our lives, and move towards the kind of life we would like.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
