While there, I developed a love of the Latino Culture and began to understand how family systems can be developed and maintained.
The process of therapy is about removing your personal blocks to healing and helping you to remember all that is good, right, and well within you. The path to achieving this can be varied and uniquely personal. I use a variety of methods including traditional psychotherapy and EMDR to assist you in your process. I have helped clients process traumatic memories, cope with grief, and move from anxiety and depression to states of mindful calmness and well being.

Whether you are in a crisis in your family or you are single and just want to improve your relationships, counseling can greatly impact the outcome. Having a supportive professional listen to your specific situation and help you with the tools to change or improve it is one of the most effective things that you can do, especially around areas of sexuality or trauma.

My training is in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience (DARe) and Somatic Experiencing.
Freedom, joy, connection, and peace are our natural state of being. They happen on their own when our bodies feel safe and supported enough to release painful past experiences that keep us stuck in distressing patterns. We feel unable to relax and are busy and burnt out. Being truly seen and loved and feeling belonging are deep desires for us, but seem unfulfillable. Instead, we resort to self improvement. Expressing our boundaries, feelings, and needs with others isn't easy. We often feel anxious, sad, shameful, numb, or alone. Triggers or physical symptoms intrude in our lives regularly. Our bodies don't feel at home.

We offer individual, couple and family therapy.
My counseling philosophy is that all clients are unique and must have an inclusive and accepting environment where they can grow emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. It is my desire to create the type of mutually respectful atmosphere that makes room for clients to be active participants in change, improved communication, and increased self-awareness. I provide a safe space where clients are invited to share ideas, take risks, feel heard -and sometimes challenged- in the way they currently experience life. “People are not problems to be solved, they are mysteries to be explored”. I work to understand the uniqueness of you and your family, and tailor therapy to fit your needs.
Life can be tough. You had expectations of what you thought life would be. What you thought it would be like to perhaps be a mother, to raise a child, and to connect with your family. You imagined it, maybe even dreamed about it. However now you find that living it is not what you expected. Or perhaps not as fulfilling as you had imagined and hoped for. You feel disconnected, and maybe even guilty or frustrated.

Hi all! I come from a diverse therapeutic background and work well with both teens and adults. I connect easily with clients to feel lighter and clearer in their minds, body, and Spirit. I work with people with stressful careers in medicine, law, finance, and small businesses. Knowing the necessity of keeping a clear head and calm body, yet have been struggling with heartbreak, anxiety, fears, loss and grief that has created overwhelming stress and expectations that limits functioning. It is a challenging balancing act with career, family, relationships, along with finding some quiet time to relax. I help you master these challenges with a very confidential, (no insurance or electronic records) safe, and caring environment.

Life is relational. From our first breath to our last, we are in relation to someone or something. Oftentimes, our suffering can be traced back to feeling stuck in our ways of relating, finding that no matter who or what we’re relating to, we feel anxious, depressed, unheard, or unloved. It can be helpful to pause and observe how our relationships and general patterns of relating are constraining or frustrating our lives in some way. Themes that I enjoy working with are anxiety, depression, grief, developmental trauma, relationship issues, doubt, faith, meaninglessness, spirituality, family of origin issues, dreaming, and meditation

Both Group and Family Therapy functions as an innovative laboratory, a safe space where we can experiment with new ways of relating to the world and to one another.
I have been involved with mental health and addiction recovery since 2012. My ideal client is someone who is struggling to make sense of their path and is looking to be pushed while being seen. I wish to know you and develop a greater awareness of what makes you unique. Through this process, you can expect to develop a profound sense of meaning and enjoy richer relationships. My style is warm, inquisitive, humorous, and challenging. I focus on the experience that is created between therapist and client and how that pertains to all relationships. I am attachment based, somatic and body oriented, and trauma informed.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
