I understand that therapy can be overwhelming for some, so I’ve worked diligently to become effective in creating a compassionate and judgement free space for individuals aged 10 to 65. Although my specialty is couples and family therapy, I am experienced with working with individuals who have autism, individuals who have experienced grief/loss, victims of abuse, and maternal mental health. It’s my goal for each individual that I meet with to feel safe, empowered and inspired to work towards personal growth.

Most of my experience is working with clients dealing with complex challenges including: anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, family issues, crisis de-escalation, and life transitions.
Learn yourself. Heal yourself. Know yourself. Life often moves us away from our authentic selves, where we are forced to operate within the expectations coming from our environment. More often times than not, we come to a place in life where we realize this life isn't working for us anymore, and something has to change. Although we like the idea of change, change can be scary.

I will guide you and your family past those obstacles and to your hope, to happiness and control.
One of my clients asked me "so what do you think?" I replied, " about what?" This is what we need to ask ourselves first during our current situation, "What are we worried about!" Are we worried about our health, our income, our family, our community or our ability to control our lives? The reality is that as human beings we don't have as much control of our lives as we assume. What we have is adaptability, daily habits and foreseeable future. We become fearful and anxious when any of these options are taken away. So give me a call- 704-259-0183 or email me at brow4615@bellsouth.net. Let's talk!!! We can figure this out together.

My ideal client's life may currently feel stressful, in crisis or transition. You may be a survivor of a dysfunctional upbringing and have a strong desire to do better than the examples you were given. You may even find yourself saying: "I know there is more to life than this". You have recognized the need for change but have been unable to break free from cycles of defeat. My joy is empowering young adults and adults to live the life they desire by holding space with them as they journey towards change and redeeming family legacy.

I am currently serving children, adolescents, and adults, in individual and family therapy.
My approach to therapy is to treat the whole person through a collaborative process. I am a firm believer in that everyone goes through "ups" and "downs" throughout life. I also believe that no matter how one may view a problem, how that person feels and how that person thinks is what is most important. I believe that problems and issues can be resolved, especially when one is invested in his/her treatment. I enjoy working with my clients to find solutions and assist in learning how to find happiness, enjoyment, and a sense of control. I find creative ways to engage with my clients throughout the therapeutic process.

I have 5 years of experience with a diverse population of clients from ages 5-adulthood who experience challenges with behaviors, anxiety, depression, substance use, suicidal history, trauma, stress, lack of concentration/focus, lack of motivation, career, life changes, family systems, relationship issues, and overall mental health concerns.
As a young girl, I've always had the passion to help others. I recall stating in high school that I would be a social worker or psychologist and here I am, Ms. LCSW! I'm a very warm, caring, and nurturing individual who creates a safe, non-judgment space for people to be open and honest with themselves as they continue to grow and thrive in the desired areas of life. Early on I had the opportunity to connect with positive people who influenced healing, growth, inner peace, and many great things in my life so it's a part of my life purpose to do the same for others.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
