As a Clinical Psychologist with 30+ years of experience, I strive to help you find pathways to enjoy your life, feel more deeply connected to others, and to enhance your sense of meaning in life. My goal is to help you find ways to better cope with the difficulties that bring you to therapy and make healthy changes that enhance the quality of your life. I provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions in a warm, supportive, and professional therapeutic environment. My approach is collaborative and tailored to the personal history and present goals of each of my clients.

Whether you are seeking help with a major transition or ways to manage the problems of every day life, choosing the right therapist is a very important decision. My counseling style is very welcoming and non-judgmental. I provide therapeutic mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults. The services provided cover a wide range of topics from depression and anxiety to child rearing to marriage counseling. Each client receives support in a caring environment. The focus of therapy is on enhancing strengths and promoting a vision of wellness while learning skills to improve life satisfaction.

Everyone no matter who they are are able to move past the darkness and trauma of their past, I am here to help rebuild and reshape thoughts and behaviors that have kept you in the dark. I enjoy collaborating with my clients to achieve their best version of themselves. Reaching out for help is the hardest step in therapy a person can take. By having an open mind and free space to help clients feel safe to express past traumas is essential to build a foundation to become the version each person has the right to show the world.

I work with clients who are looking to improve, adjust to change, heal from difficulties/trauma, and enjoy their lives more. They want to shake the things that keep getting in the way. Often, my clients want to find out how to be more present, increase their confidence, and intentionality in meeting their goals. They want more satisfying, healthy relationships and ways to communicate. Understanding feelings, what they mean, and what to do with them is a skill many of my clients want to expand.

I meet with individuals, couples, families, and run groups. I generally work with folks who complain of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management, anger management, trauma/PTSD, interpersonal conflict, parenting challenges, spiritual challenges, frustration tolerance, and some health challenges to include nicotine addiction. I also provide in-home nursing-aid care, DD respite care, and tutoring. A client is encouraged to boldly explore their own thoughts and emotions in a safe, warm and collaborative therapeutic environment and find new solutions, skills, insight and awareness around life's challenges, both within the person and the persons' life experience

I work with clients who want more satisfaction and meaning in life and relationships. The pain of anxiety, low mood, ADHD, addictive or compulsive behaviors, transitions, loss, trauma, or relational distress motivates them to look for change. They are curious about knowing themselves more deeply, through the heart and felt-sense experience, as well as the intellect. To grow beyond the safety of the familiar self in meaningful ways, they are willing to face some discomfort and vulnerability, and commit to useful behaviors and habits. They value this one precious life they have here, and want to make the best of it.

Chaise Marie Gies, M.S., SUDP-T, LMHCA(c), has worked in the psychology and forensic field for several years. She has a master’s degree in forensic psychology, along with a specialized license in substance use disorders and an associate candidate as a mental health counselor. Chaise draws on several theoretical orientations (e.g., Rogerian, Cognitive Behavioral, Family Systems, etc.) in her counseling practice at NW Family.
