Being my authentic self is important to me and I want you to be yourself with me. We often don’t get the chance to be completely open and honest in our society, so I hope we can create that safe place in our sessions. I believe that you are your own expert, and sometimes even experts need to explore their own ideas to come up with solutions to all sorts of problems or issues. I use aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy depending on my client’s needs. I often incorporate creativity, laughter, and games in session because I am a “big kid” and because it’s fun!

Hi and welcome! It's a brave and vulnerable step to consider therapy, so I acknowledge the strength it took you to take this first step to find help. You may be feeling low, burnt out, anxious, traumatized, and in need of a break. While there are no quick fixes in therapy, I have helped many clients build resilience, find peace, and gain strength. Prior to my role as therapist, I worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility and in a DBT IOP, but therapy is my favorite. I value it in my own life, and I put a lot into the work I do with clients.

Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Known. These three brief sentences perfectly summarize my approach as a therapist. I am seeking to be a safe, non judgmental place for my clients to rest and truly be seen, heard and known. I use a multitude of therapeutic approaches (DBT, CBT, Family Systems, Attachment, Narrative, Solutions Focused to name a few) but believe my skills as a relational clinician differentiate me amongst the crowded field of options. I work with Individuals (13+), Couples and Families. I find it a great honor to be a therapist and walk alongside those seeking help and I look forward to connecting with you.

I utilize a variety of accepted therapeutic techniques, but mainly utilize Reality Therapy (RT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Hypnotherapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy to help individuals become aware of the connections between their emotions, thoughts, and physical experiences.
I am passionate about helping individuals and couples thrive in reaching their goals by building on their strengths and identifying new and creative ways to adjust to difficult situations and circumstances. "People come for therapy not to change their past but their future." a quote by Milton Erickson inspires us to view therapy as a way to manage change.

I have post-graduate training in the treatment of PTSD & developmental trauma, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, mindfulness, parts work, and DBT/ACT skills.
I hope you take a moment to recognize how much work you’ve done to get to this place. You’ve survived this long, and you should be proud. For most folks, surviving on its own doesn’t cut it anymore. We need to make some adjustments to sustain a more grounded and full life. I want you to experience collaborative healing that is safe, free of judgment, occasionally humorous, and rooted in kindness and gratitude. I currently practice under Therapy Austin and Central Austin Psychotherapy offering in-person and telehealth services.

I use parts of CBT (cognitive behavior), DBT (dialectical behavior), ACT (acceptance/commitment), motivational interviewing, narrative work, and other techniques.
I primarily work with clients within queer community, especially trans folks, and lifestyles such as kink, polyamory, or sex work. My hope is to provide a safe space (and a sliding scale!) where you don't have to spend your time in therapy educating your therapist on the concepts that are everyday within your own life. I love work around emotional regulation, communication and conflict resolution, with individuals and with multiple people within a relationship, to help develop healthier coping mechanisms, processing techniques, and self-acceptance/self-care methods to improve feelings of empowerment, security, and life satisfaction.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
