I am a Licensed Family Therapist with over 35 years of experience, and prior experience as a pediatrician. Over time, I developed various ways to help people solve problems, together. I work with couples, or whole families, and with children and adolescents. I have a strong belief that even painful or difficult things can be addressed constructively. I have a variety of methods to reach that goal. I utilize experiential, narrative, structural, constructivist, or insight oriented approaches, individually tailored to each situation. I have a special fondness for teenagers. My connection to children informs my approach to parenting.
I create a positive and constructive environment for therapy. I will help you appreciate each other's viewpoint. In the first couple of sessions we will explore collaborative solutions to your difficulties. Then we will formulate a plan for you to succeed on your own, with additional sessions as needed.
I was at the Joslin Diabetes Center (Harvard) for ten years, as a pediatric endocrinologist. I believe medicine must also address the mind, the person's context. I trained at the Kantor Family Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Then I integrated a family systems view into medical care. Today I focus exclusively on family therapy, in private practice.
