My counseling style is multi-modal with emphasis on Cognitive/Behavioral, Motivation Enhancement (Motivational Interviewing), Humanistic, and Brief Solution focused therapy. I h experience working with children, adolescents, and families focusing on family crisis, conflict, and relationship issues. I also have experience ( 6 yrs) of providing EAP services for Employee Assistance Programs providing solutions focused interventions for EAP clients. I provide crisis intervention counseling and self harm prevention. My approach is solution focused with an self-insight approach to problem solving. One of my main focuses is improvong motivation in clients and the use of problem solving techniques to produce positive behavioral change in clients.

In my professional capacity as a licensed social worker and psychotherapist, I have had the honor to accompany persons of all ages and backgrounds in their quest for insight and self-discovery. Most every appointment is available and is as effective by phone or video chat (Zoom or FaceTime), and can further be more expeditiously scheduled these ways. I am experienced working with clients who struggle with, recurrent depressive thoughts or feelings, frequent anxiety, panic attacks, traumatic past experiences, emotional instability, feelings of overwhelming stress, and difficulty communicating with others. I do work with adults as well as children, and families, focusing on enhancing emotional awareness, learning parenting tools, and implementing healthy relationship boundaries. Life has a way of accumulating and overwhelming us, counseling is the process of gaining awareness and finding a healthy life balance once again.

Accepting new clients! Dr. Jeff’s wide range of clinical experience entails adolescents, adults, and elderly clients. While pursuing his doctorate in clinical psychology, he completed an externship at the Rutgers College Counseling Center where he worked with college students and spent two years at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York City where he received psychoanalytic training and supervision in individual psychodynamic psychotherapy. Jeff is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a permit to practice psychology in NJ.

Jean Sweetman obtained her Master's Degree in Educational Psychology , June 1985, from the City University of New York at Brooklyn College. She received her post-graduate certification from the Institute in Reality Therapy from Vancouver University in 2000. Jean is certified by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2005. Prior to her clinical work at Life Psychotherapy, Jean worked for 31 years as a School Psychologist with a client centered focus on helping children, adolescents, adults and families maneuver issues of anxiety, depression , self- esteem and transition.

Inner Clarity, LLC is a group private practice comprised of professionals with varying areas of specialization. Our main goal is to provide a warm, inviting, and relaxing environment for our clients to engage in individual, family, couples, and/or group therapy with a professional who is skilled in meeting their clinical needs. We are an out-of-network provider and would be happy to verify benefits prior to starting services. Our office is able to bill out of network directly, so patients are only responsible for coinsurance at the time of service after deductible is met, and any balance outside of what insurance covers.
