My counseling style is multi-modal with emphasis on Cognitive/Behavioral, Motivation Enhancement (Motivational Interviewing), Humanistic, and Brief Solution focused therapy. I h experience working with children, adolescents, and families focusing on family crisis, conflict, and relationship issues. I also have experience ( 6 yrs) of providing EAP services for Employee Assistance Programs providing solutions focused interventions for EAP clients. I provide crisis intervention counseling and self harm prevention. My approach is solution focused with an self-insight approach to problem solving. One of my main focuses is improvong motivation in clients and the use of problem solving techniques to produce positive behavioral change in clients.
I have extensive knowledge with community resources available for families as well as expertise in the juvenile legal system for those with legal involvement due to poor decision making skills. Interventions include: Motivation to change techniques, insight oriented therapy and cognitive/ behavioral interventions to improve judgment and behaviors.
I have extensive training and experience in suicide prevention, self injurious behaviors, crisis intervention and development of effective coping mechanisms/ skills. I am a Approved Clinical Supervisor which gives me the certification needed to provide supervision for LAC'S, graduate students, interns employed in the mental health/counseling field.
